Hi, I'm Debbie. I was banded on 9/23, I've been reading lots of posts and can't believe how different the post op diets are. I'm having a terrible time, I'm very hungry. My last solid food was on 9/20. After my op they told me I couldn't have more than 3 ounces of liquid an hour. ( Water, diet Snapple. tea w/o milk, no broth ) The nurse forgot to inform me that I was supposed to increase that intake the next day, so I was not doing to great at my post op app. They put me on 3 protien shakes a day I use the EAS ones they taste pretty good, and lquid ( again no Soup or broth no Vitamin water) I called my baratric groups office and they said to increase the drinks to 4. I have 8 more days of no food and I'm not sure I'm going to make it. right now broth would be wonderful!

Hi Debbie and welcome. The post-op diet is tough, and even tougher once the swelling in your tummy goes down and you begin to feel hungry. However, it is so important you stick to what your doctor has prescribed, in order to make sure you heal properly. Be strong, I know you can do this!!

Thanks Susan, I'm going minute by minute. It would be a bit easier if I didn't have to cook for a sick Hubby right now :( but hopefully this will make me stronger. I'm just jealous of the people that can have Soup  LOL

HI, I was banded on the 24th and all i did today was think about food. I'm soo hungry, i snuck in the tiniest bite of mashed potatoes and the tiniest bite of sliced cheese. Made me feel a little better but still I miss sitting down to eat with my family. I'm starting to wonder if I did the right thing. I know this is the toughest part, just trying to take it one shake at a time.

I know for me that first bite and I'm lost, so I can't do it. I hope it gets easier for you too!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
