What are you eating on the mushy phase...

Recommended Posts

I've gone through some of the recipes and tried them, but I would love to know what others are eating. I am getting a little tired of mushies...two nights ago I had my husband bring me a piece of cheesecake from Luby's and that was my dinner. It was good, but not the best choice

I have done Lentil Soup twice and blended it. I have made the black bean Soup recipe that is in the recipe section and blended it and it is good. Lots of potato soup and mashed potatos. I eat scrambled eggs every morning. I tried fish and it got stuck, so my dr said to wait another week and try it again. This is what I had yesterday...

Breakfast: coffee

2 hours later--scrambled egg with cottage cheese in it to make it runnier.

Lunch: cottage cheese mixed with salsa

Snack: yogurt

Dinner: Went out to dinner, had a bowl of baked potato soup.

Tonight I am going to make a big pot of vegetable beef soup for the family. I won't eat the meat, just the veggies and blend it up and that will give me something to eat at work the next couple of days.

How bout oatmeal, applesauce, refried Beans with a little cheese. I am so sick of creamy Soup, and I am sure the sodium in it can not be good for me! Just some suggestions...

Layer 1/2 cup refried Beans, 1/4 cup mashed potatoes microwave with cheddar cheese. YUMMY! I still eat this one. Another is to blend veggie chili. Melt cheddar cheese over it and add fat free sour cream. Lastly, 1/2 cup ricotta cheese, layer with your favorite spaghetti sauce and sprinkle mozzarella cheese over it. It's like noodleless lasagna. Good luck!

I found my fave today... my bf got me the magic bullet yesterday at costco (great deal BTW) and we also picked up a rotisserie chicken there as well. So yesterday I blended some of the chicken and had some for dinner with Greek yogurt and tabasco for some flavor. So today I had some more of the chicken mush with fat free refried Beans, added bacon salt (the best invention ever) and some cheese. It was so good but unfortunately I got full so fast that I had to save the rest for later. Today is the first day that I actually got full so quickly... I am only 2 wks post op and have no fills yet, but I guess the band is working for me already :frown:.

So I highly recommend the bullet or any other type of blender thingee because I was also sick of the cream Soups.

I've discovered my little ramikins - those small white bowls that you can put in the microwave or the oven. They're the perfect portion size, and you can cook in them so easily!

So for Breakfast, I put a little melted butter, one egg, a tablespoon of Tomato sauce, and a grating of low-fat mozzarella cheese. Cook it for one minute (or less if you want it runnier) in the microwave on high. Yum!

Then for lunch, it's 2.5 tbs of low fat ricotta cheese, salt, pepper, oregano and parsley, and a little garlic, with grated mozzarella cheese and tomato sauce to top, in the oven on 375 for 15 minutes. The center of a lasagna without the Pasta. It's great with spinich in it too! And try sun-dried tomatos. YUM!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
