Since eating is not as fun as it used to be and we're not supposed to drink what do you do for fun?

Going out to dinner, and bars are out. What's left? Getting tired of going to the movies.

I still go out and eat when I want to.

Went out with DH last night. I had fish with salad.Ate the fish, some of the salad, stole a couple of hubby's chips and then we shared a dessert.

I met a friend for lunch the other day. I ordered a starter size spag bol as I knew that wouldn't get stuck. Probably ate about 1/3 of it.

Remember that the band is for life its not just a diet. So you have to be able to do things that you would normally do. Going out to eat is not all about the food - its also about the company and relaxing and not having to cook!

I forgot. Why can't you drink? So long as it is in moderation and not every day it's not going to hurt. I had 2 glasses of wine last night.

I totally agree with elcee. I'm in this for the long haul, and I pretty much live my life as usual (actually better, now that I'm so much more active), only I eat smaller portions. I love having left overs to bring home for another couple of meals when I eat out, but I sure don't mind leaving them behind when it's not feasible. I don't drink more than one glass of wine because it goes straight to my head, but when I want, I enjoy a glass of wine with my meal or a cocktail on occasion. I never was a big drinker, so I probably drink as much now as ever, which isn't a lot.

We do a ton of hiking, I occasionally go to bars with my husband, but we really have a sitter, today we went to a mud bog (4 wheeling), and in the morning-pumpkin farm. Just way more active even with just a little weight loss.

I am a hobby person so I can take up eating time with doing one of my hobbies. I am working towards being able to exercise more as my legs get better. In the meantime, I am keeping my mind on other things and not food.< /p>

Develop some interests.

Life is more than eating and drinking although many of us have forgotten that.

I'm going to see Mike Birbiglia in DC this Saturday, Them Crooked Vultures in concert Boston next Sunday, again in Philly next Monday and then again in DC on Wednesday

I would not have had the stamina to do all that 45lbs ago.

I wonder if I will survive the pit at these shows?

ah, who cares, I'm gonna have the time of my life

I'd call that entertainment

25 cool points for anyone who knows who Them Crooked Vultures are without Googling

I still go out to eat and drink with friends. I either choose different dishes (appetizers, salads) or just eat smaller portions (1/3 to 1/2) of regular Entrees. On football weekends  I have chili, wings, loaded burgers without Buns, etc. instead of pizza or sandwiches. I actually like eating out MORE now because I'm so happy about getting full on small portions, and it's usually cheaper! And my doctor doesn't restrict me from drinking; I just never drink till I'm sick.:( Don't take this as harsh, but I agree with ElfiePoo. Develop some interests!

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
