Had my band placed this past Thurs and I'm.....

Recommended Posts

still pretty sore. Is it just me? I see so many people on here and it was nothing to them - I'm telling ya, I'm definately sore. And the bruises on my belly! Everyone at the hospital was sooooo nice, knowledgable, and patient. I'm drinking my 3 oz Protein shakes every hour and my Jello. Going home today (it's 3 hrs away from home and my BIL who brought me wanted me to stay one more nite just in case something happened). I had to spend 1 nite in the hospital - that's ok, I got the good drugs.

Now, I'm off to lose some weight!! While I'm not really hungry, I do think about food constantly - especially when my borther in law eats. I just ask for a smell - how pathetic is that?4 weeks on this liquid only diet - ugh.

Question: I'm sposed to add yogurt when I get to the soft stage in 4 weeks. But can I drink the yogurt drinks?

Blessings!

Marci

You might want to check with your dr first. I am a week and 2 days being banded and yes I know you feeling of hurt, but it does get better.

I think everybody diet plans are different. I was total clear liquid 1st week -broth; sugar free Popsicle and s.f. Jello with just Water and diet juices. I am now going on my second phase and I have creamed Soups and yogurt drinks at this stage. My next phase beings mushy foods and then I progress to real food. Yeah

Hang in there and I know your feeling, because the hunger might begin for you. It did me, but I didn't cheat and haven't yet. It does get better and I so look forward to real food!!!!

I am seven weeks out. I had bruises for about three weeks and then they faded away. I was on Clear Liquids to full liquids to soft and then regular. You need the healing time and your body needs to adjust to the new object it has in it now. Don't rush anything. It's going to be a long journey but it can be successful. Too many people before us can prove it.

guess it just depends on you...took me over a week to really start to feel better. I was banded on the 09/11 and I still have pretty dark bruises. I am not hungry but do think about food. And I miss soda!! Good luck!!!

It does get a lot better. I was bruised for almost six weeks! If you watch the video on you tube of the surgery being done you will understand why! THEY ARE SO NOT GENTLE! I'm glad I didn't watch it until after my surgery!

The head hunger is the worst. I had my fourth fill on Thursday and this is the first time that I haven't been head hungry. Mainly because I think I'm just a little too tight right now so I get stuck easily and food is just not that appealing anymore. I'm sure it will loosen up a little in a few days and I will be at my sweet spot.

The best thing you can do for the soreness is to get up and move. Walk, walk, walk and walk some more and sleep in a recliner or propped up.

Good luck to everyone! Keep us posted as to how you are doing!

Glad i found this post. I was banded on Oct 1st as well. The pain in my belly is horrible. I'm fine if i'm sitting but once i have to get up oh boy i just dread it.

My stomach is yelling at me but i'm not giving in to it at all. Do any of you find it hard to continue to drink? I don't think i'm getting 64 oz's of fliuds in.

I did not have the belly bruising. Soreness from the incisions yes and OMG the gas! lots of walking and gasX. Took me over a week to be able to drink an entire Protein Shake in one day. Congrats to all of us on making the decision for a healthier lifestyle!

All of this will be a distant memory before you know it. 7 months out and because of the weight loss you can hardly even see my scars. If you are thinking about food and wanting to smell you have head hunger, it is mental and you need to learn to cope with it, it comes from when food is your life and that life has ended. Wait till you fix a wonderful meal and then only be able to take a few bites, just remember that is why you got banded.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
