Help with Pureed food!

Recommended Posts

So I'm starting pureed food this weekend. And I'm really confused as to what I can eat. On liquids I allowed, ricotta, apple sauce, yougurt, and Soups. So I'm not sure what pureed foods I am allowed. My nutrionist hasn't really given me much to go on for this stage.

I also would do it to chunky type of foods like Olive Garden's Zuppa Tascano (potato, sausage, and Kale) so that it would go down smooth etc. Stuff like the Kale would definitely get stuck, etc. Basically, you just make stuff mushy.

Perfect Chili Recipe

1 onion, chopped

1 green pepper, chopped

2 c. Beans (we like Kidney)

1 can Rotel

1 lb. ground turkey

3 16 oz. cans Tomato sauce

3 Tbs. chili powder (or more to taste)

2 Tbs. garlic powder

salt and pepper to taste

In a skillet brown the ground turkey with a little bit of the chopped onion and some salt and pepper. Drain and remove meat and set aside. Saute the onions and peppers in the skillet without cleaning it. In a large stock pot, place the ground turkey and the sauteed peppers and onion. Add tomato sauce and chili powder. Cook on medium heat for approximately 1 1/2 hours or so.

Heres a good bean dip recipe:

Ingredients:

Olive Oil

Fat Free Refried Beans

Black Beans

Chopped Onion

Chopped green and red pepper

Tomatoes

Salsa (if you want)

Reduced Fat Shredded cheese

Tofu (or you can substitute some lean meat)

Avocado

Brown the tofu (or meat...I'm a vegetarian so I don't add meat), onions, peppers and tomatoes in a large skillet until the veggies are floppy and the Protein is cooked (if you're using tofu, it will brown a little on the sides). Add the black beans and refried beans (drain some of the liquid from the black beans first). Add some salsa if desired. Stir everything together over heat until it is mixed. Top with the shredded cheese.

Cut the avocado in half and remove the pit. Serve the bean dip over the avocado and enjoy! This is great because you can portion it into 1 cup (or 3/4s cup or whatever) servings and freeze it.

For mushies, you can just throw the whole dip into the blender to make sure everything is super mushy. You can also puree the avocado (so its like a guacamole consistency) and eat it on the side.

Great source of Protein, complex carbs and healthy fat (in the avocado)!

One easy thing to puree is the rotisseree chickens at the supermarket. Just add a little chicken broth while you're pureeing. You can put them in an ice cube tray and freeze so you have little portions ready anytime.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
