Just thought this might be a good thread to do.

I am now 23 days post op and have lost about 12 lbs and now I can COMFORTABLY CROSS MY LEGS!:)

Get outta here! You can cross your legs! I'm not even close. I would love to cross my legs. I'm just 2 wks post op so I can't do too much just yet. Congratulations on that. I can't wait to be 195.

ok, I can sit in a booth and not overhang on the table. I don't have to worry if waiter takes me to a booth as there is a good 8 inches of space from my body to the table, I can cross my legs, I fit into an airplane seat with out an extension belt, I don't mind having my picture taken, I can find clothes to fit in regular stores, etc....and the very best is I won't be gaining the weight back!

WOW! What an accomplishment! I think people are probably noticing but not sure how to approach it, weight/weightloss are touchy subjects sometimes. Congrats!

Nazzy, if you want someone to comment on your weight loss...buy a new outfit that fits and you will get several comments. Alot of us when we lose weight continue to our old clothes which are now ill fitting. We should make it a practice to buy atleast one outfit each time we go down a size.

I can cross my legs comfortably, sit in an airplane seat with the arm rests down on both sides comfortably and the big one is when i'm exercising I can do jumping jacks and jump around. I was too afraid to before.

I can now paint my toe nails without having someone else do them, because I can reach the darn things. My Grand daughter called me her big Nana one time and now she calls me her little Nana. I can now go up stairs without huffing and puffing. 2 pounds from goal in 14 months.

Interestingly several patients have said quite none-specific things like "you look great" or "you're looking really well" .

One old lady has said I should not loose any weight because then I would not be cuddly (groan - I do NOT want to be cuddly any more!). She was the only one who specifically mentioned my weight, although I have only lost about 12 lbs so far.

I take your point about clothes fitting. I think I was wearing clothes that were actually a wee bit tight and now fit better.

I still have several pairs of work trousers in two smaller sizes that I may get into in due course. Sorry, make that WILL get into...

It is tempting not to buy clothes as you think you will waste money but, hell, it does make you feel good to wear something new, smart, that fits and makes you look good.

This is kind of embarrassing but yesterday I was able to wear a pair of regular pants instead of still wearing my MATERNITY pants that I had been in for the past 2 years!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
