I think I ate too fast tonight...

Recommended Posts

I was allowed to have fish starting today. I thought I chewed well, but maybe not. It feels stuck--I ate about 3 hours ago. It doesn't hurt, just bothers me. Please tell me it will eventually either go down or come up!!

I haven't anything take that long to go down but it did go down eventually. Have you tried drinking something hot, like tea or cocoa?

I think it is going down, it still feels kind of stuck, or maybe I am just full and that is what full feels like with the band? Not sure since I have only been on runny mushies, not anything this solid yet. I did take some liquid extra strength tylenol and it seems to have gone down...

Thanks for the advice.

You are probably just full. If it is stuck, your tummy will start rumbling, even though you feel full. You will even have trouble taking in liquids. The hot beverage idea... is a great idea. I usually drink a cup of coffee. However, drink it slowly, so if there are problems then you can stop right away.

In any case, if you think something is stuck, then go on liquids. To test it out, take in soft food later. Try your best not to throw it up!!! This is very dangerous to your health. Vomiting can cause damage to your esophagus and teeth. Most importantly your esophagus, which gastric acids can destroy tissue and be a precursor for esophageal cancer. You could also start to have problems with ulcers, and have to start taking Nexium (the purple pill).

Try your best to stay away from foods you are suppose to avoid.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
