I recently received my 2nd fill and now have about 5.5 cc's in my 10 cc band. The problem is I can only eat 3-5 bites of food before I begin feeling completely uncomfortable with continual burping. It feels as though I have to vomit along with a tight burning sensation. I believe it's telling me that I have eaten too much but it was only 3 bites.

Is this what the "sweet spot" feels like or should I have some of the Fluid removed? Until this point I have experienced very little restriction so I am excited about the opportunity to now start losing but my mind is telling me... you need to eat more. Does this make sense?:)

How long ago did you get the fill? If it was not more than a week or two, you might still have residual swelling from the fill, and you could try soft foods and liquids for a couple of days, then back to your regular diet. If more than one or two weeks, you should talk to your doctor and see if he recommends a slight unfill. I would guess that you are too tight.

At your sweet spot, you should be able to eat at least 1/2 cup good solid meals without feeling sick. Just being able to eat a few bites means you're band is too tight, but you have to determine if it's due to swelling or being over filled.

Thanks for the info! I just received the fill last Friday so just 5 days ago. So with that being said hopefully this uncomfortable feeling will go away in a week or so. I will wait it out and see what happens. If it does not get better I may need to remove a 1/2 of cc or so. Thank you!!!

I've read on LBT that some doctors require their patients to stay on liquids for two weeks. I'm at my sweet spot and have had numerous fills, and I never had any significant swelling after a fill.

If it were me, and this definitely lay advice, I'd go back on liquids for 2 days and then try soft foods for 2 days before trying solids again, since your fill was just five days ago.

If the soft foods didn't go well or if I couldn't move on to solids, I'd go back in to have a little fill removed. I would also suggest you call your doctor tomorrow to see what he thinks you should do.

I hope you just need a couple days of liquids to let things settle down.

Thanks for the replies. Things have gotten a bit better. I can now eat about 3 ounces of food and I am satisfied for at least 4 hours. I think this may be my sweet spot. I have lost 5 pounds in 1 week. Is that too much?

I'm glad to hear your doing better! Since you're able to eat solids now, your weight loss will probably stabilize. I think 1 1/2 to 2 pounds a week weight loss is average with the band.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
