I have 2 questions I need help with....

Recommended Posts

First one: After you reach your sweet spot are you physically unable to eat more than 1 or so cups of food?

I ask this because I don't not feel like I have much restriction. This brings on my second question..

Is it normal to get a fill every 2 weeks. I had surgery July 28th and had to wait 6 weeks for my first fill. First fill was Sept. 9th and my second one was Sept 23rd. My third fill is scheduled for Oct. 7th. I have 5 cc's in a 10 cc band. My doc said "most" of his patients have to have 4-7 cc's to reach their sweet spot. Any help with these would be greatly appreciated..... Jennifer

I'm at my "sweet spot" and for me my diet is 1/2 cup meals. How much I could eat depends a lot on the consistency of my meal.

I wouldn't try it, but I think I couldn't eat more than 1/2 to 3/4 cup of something very solid such as steak or chicken.

However, I try to eat about 2/3 of my meal as a good solid food and the other 1/3 as a fruit/veg/bread (not all three at once). At that, I could eat probably up to 3/4 up to one cup of food if I was eating more of the sides rather than the solid Protein.

That's why I have to measure, because in reality the 1/2 cup meal keeps me satisfied for several hours. My body must be pretty band tolerant because I could overdo it without an adverse reaction.

My doctor generally schedules appointments four to six weeks out, but if after two weeks a fill doesn't seem to be enough, we can come back for another. I think I did that twice, and the second time he wanted me to have it under fluoro to make sure all was well, and it was thankfully.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
