7 Months and 7 Pounds

Recommended Posts

I was banded March 7, 2009 so I'm nearly 7 months post-op now and I've lost an uninspiring 7 pounds.

On the pre-op Meditrim shake diet I successfully lost 12 pounds. I felt fanstastic going in that with that start I could do this no problem. Within the first month out of surgery I lost another 7 pounds and then that's when trouble hit. Shortly after my very first fill, which I could feel restriction and had me sitting at 4.5 mL I started getting some extreme back pain. Worried that it may be band related I contacted my surgeons and just to be safe they removed all but 1 mL of my fill. The theory was that if it was band related I would feel a difference in 48 hours. Well I didn't. The pain went away just as mysteriously as it came but I also put back on all my post-op pounds lost as well as some of what I'd lost in the pre-op diet. Since then I've been going for fills regulary and I'm now up to I believe 5 mL (I can't remember if the last one was a .25 or .5 increase) and I'm not feeling a whole lot of restriction.

So, I religiously have been keeping a food diary for a few weeks now hoping that I can spot something there with the dietitian. I avoid all slider foods and don't drink with my meals.

Does anyone have any suggestions for me?

I understand your frustration - I am only 5 months post op and I have lost about 10lb in all that time - my problem is I cant stop eating though. Which I realise is the complete opposite to you - I eat small amounts constantly, which is entirely my fault but I just cant seem to get it under control.

How many calories are you eating per day? could it be you are too low and your metabolism has slowed? Check out the "Gabriel Method" - there is a book and website which talks about this. Good luck

Its been 15 months, 30 pounds. For me I realize this is a journey. In the beginning I thought I'll have surgery and lose weight but it has been so much more then that. After 20 years I stopped smoking, I was addicted to fast food as well. I over ate, never exercised and my previous body was a tried and true representation of how I lived my life.

Post band, although I have not lost a lot of pounds I HAVE lost a lot of bad habits.

All you can do is take it one day, one step and one meal at a time. IF you move and eat well those actions will show on oyur body plain and simple.

hi I have only lost 10lbs in 3 months and have had my first fill with no restriction at all.

Feel so disappointed i suffer with OA and have muscular rheumatism so exercise is very difficult, i am not the healthiest of eater but did explain all this to them and was assured i would still loose weight.

I know it is early days but have seen on this website that so many have not lost the weight and spent all this money it is very dishearting.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Had a sleeve in 2017, lost over 100 pounds. Had a DS surgery this year (2025) for more sustainable weight loss. 🤞

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
