any one having trouble medical records????

Recommended Posts

Well I have had my first consolation, and went to the seminar, they call the insurance and all the insurance want is a 5 year weight history. Now that's ok but one of my doctors is taking forever to fax the records back to the LAP-BAND® people. I just needed to know if any one out there has had the same problem? If so how long did it take? The lady at the doctors office said it could take another week. It's been a week and a half already.:) I just really really really want this just like I know every one else on here does. HELP PLEASE!!!!

Can you go to that drs office yourself? Call ahead and tell them you'll be picking up the records YOURSELF. Make sure they're ALL there. You can fax them, send them in the mail, or take them to your surgeon's office yourself. Sometimes we just have to do things ourselves to make sure they get done.

Good luck.

I agree with WhyW. When I went for my EKG, I asked them to fill out the form utilizing my chart and to give me a copy. Not only did my doctor send my surgeon a copy, I walked away with one just in case they forgot ;-)!

I started off having issues of getting my info sent over. It was so bad at one point I said when this was over I was changing doctors. I love my doc though, but not a couple office girls so much. What I did was tell them that this was urgent and that I was going to miss the opportunity for surgery if it wasn't received right away. I then called everyday until it was done. After that they didn't mess with me anymore. It was very frustrating and I'm glad I don't need anything from them anymore.

I read your post, and I have the same situation, meaning the process for me to get approved from my insurance has taken since October of last year.

The last medical records I needed was the records for 6 months of a commercial diet and the five year medical history.

Yesterday I sent the insurance the records mentioned above.

However my dilemma right now and has always been my doctor's office. It seems that it takes them for ever to submit info to the insurance, and whenever I call it takes almost a week to respond :).

So it seems to me that I'm doing the surgery coodinator's job and it's very frustating :w00t:

Today I have an appointment with a different doctor, do you think this will cause a problem with the insurance?

Please advice:confused:

I had a similar insurance situation with our pediatrician, and that's exactly the way I handled it. My husband is self-employed and we were applying for a new private insurance policy and we had a drop dead deadline to have all of our documents turned in, and this was the only doctor who was dragging his feet. The funny thing, he first tried to say that the mail was sometimes iffy, and he probably didn't receive the form I had sent him in a timely manner. Busted...I had also personally dropped it off to his nurse. I changed doctors after everything was said and done. I never did like him much anyway, and that was the final straw.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
