Prenatal vitamins

Recommended Posts

Hi there... I just found out yesterday that I am 6 weeks pregnant. Not planned and still adjusting to the news...

Does anyone know of a good prenatal vitamin/chewable one? I have been nauseau's for about 10 days and am having trouble keeping anything down. I go to see my OB tomorrow and my surgeon on Friday... but in the meantime I need a plan for a Vitamin. I am still taking my regular chewable Multivitamin... but if ya'll have any suggestions I could use them. Thanks so much!!

"T" :)

Thank you so much for your input. My Surgeon advised me to go with a regular prenatal and told me I could cut it up into smaller pieces if necessary. I am actually able to take it whole... I sure do miss the ease of mind when it came to my regular chewable multi though... :)

Good luck to all of you with your pregnancy!! :thumbup:

The Buried Treasure liquid tastes citrusy. It's made in a base of pineapple juice and there are also strong orange flavors. There is a lingering irony taste. Overall, it's not bad! and I occasionally will mix it into some citrus juice just for something different. Usually, i just do a shot of it and be done.

I've been using it for just short of a year now and it's very complete. In fact, the liquid is so easy for my body to absorb that w/in an hour, i can smell the Vitamins emanating from my skin! liquids are good that way for anybody (men, women, banded, not banded). It's very easy for the body to absorb them when they're in that form.

My doctor prescribed me "Select-OB." I absolutely LOVE them. No nausea, no heartburn... just a pleasantly blueberry flavored chewable. Just a side note, my doctor told me to take my regular DHA/Omega 3 supplements as this particular prenatal didn't include them.

As a side note, plenty of my friends had great luck with Flinstones gummies too!

      I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

      Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
      1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

        All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

      I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
