Fourth Week Post-op Hunger

Recommended Posts

What's happening? This is week 4, two weeks away from my 1st fill, and hunger has returned with a vengence. The volumn of food I'm eating is increasing as well, from 1/2 to a cup before there is discomfort. Wish the fill was tomorrow. I've lost 16 lbs but this may be short-lived for now. Is this normal?

Two words: Bandster Hell

You're swelling has subsided and your band is loose. Try to make healthy food choices, and possibly add a healthy high Protein snack (it was more like a 4th meal), if you're allowed by your doctor and if you can tolerate it well.

During this time, I had the same hunger issues, and the NP in my doctor's office gave me several options, such as:

Greek yogurt with added All Bran Cereal

1/4 cup tuna w/ 2-4 whole wheat/fat free crackers

1/2 cup of thick chili

I can relate. I am 5 weeks, plus 4 days post op and have been hungry for 2 weeks!! My first fill is Thurs. and I can't wait. I will let you know the outcome. I hope for some restriction again, like I felt the first few weeks post surgery!

I guess this is somewhat normal but sure hard to deal with.

I just keep trying to eat less and only a healthy snack.< /p>

Yeah welcome to bandsterhell. I had my surgery on a Friday, and by Sunday I was starving. Like insane hungry. I apparently didn't swell for very long. You have to make smart choices like you did before the surgery. Eat your Protein and healthy foods. Don't worry so much right now on AMOUNTS of food, just make sure what you're putting into your body is healthy.

Hello...dont worry the samething happened to me. I'm 6weeks post op and I had my first fill at 4 1/2 weeks because I could eat anything with no restiction. My doctors and nurses said this was perfectly normal because your band is empty at the time of surgery to allow for swelling and your swelling is obviously all gone now. Get your fill and you'll feel much better, good luck:):)

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
