Hello. I'm am so happy to have quite a few newcomers join us on our challenge. It is so easy. No preparation at all. Most of us use treadmills, stationary bikes, ellipticals or nature walks to get our miles in. Set a goal and start exercising.

We will log our miles once a week. Since October starts on Thursday, we will log our miles walked for the week on Wednesdays. If you need encouragement check out our July and August 2009 Mile threads.

I am losing so many inches just from riding my bike. I started with a 50 mile goal and went up to 71 miles in August. I went back to work, but still managed to get in 60.5 miles for September. We can do it. Take it one day at a time.

Hi Jessi,

Since you have a weight in mind for Thanksgiving, you may also want to join the Turkey Day Challenge.

Here's the tread for the Turkey Day Challenge.

http://www.lapbandtalk.com/f17/turke...2009-a-100905/

Just sign on, and tell everyone your goal to loose by Thanksgiving.

Then go to the excel sheet, and log in your name, etc.

http://spreadsheets.google.com/ccc?key=0AkYQ5YZkmOeIdE14aUJDSWs5RDFmRHgxZHVBR1JNdnc&hl=en

I think you need a g-mail account to access the spreadsheet, which, if you don't already have one, you can easily set up through google.

You can update the spreadsheet once a week, or whenever you loose some weight.

Good luck.

Joan

I would love to join in on this. I have a set of Walk at Home DVD's that I need to start using.

So since I just got banded 4 weeks ago and this will be my first month, I am going to say my October Mile's will be 45.

Hope I am not trying to aim to high...but that would be a nice starting goal I think.

Can't wait to start logging my miles.

Hmmm, this sounds interesting! So is this all day miles, say with a pedometer or is this exercise miles, logged by any means, as long as it's exercise?

I've got to get back to walking my neighborhood now that the weather has finally cooled off. this just might help me do that.

I'll have to think about what my goal could be.

I'll be back!

Hello Heartfire. We log actual exercise.

Hi! That's what I thought but figured I'd better know for sure.

Okay, I'm in. Going to start slow. Need to get back into my routine of walking. I'm going to shoot for 30 miles this month.

My neighborhood is VERY hilly (I live in the mtns.). I have 2 routes that I do. The first one w/the kiddo in the stroller and the dog on her leash is 1.5 miles. The second one that I do by myself (dog is too old to walk that far and the hills are too big for me w/the stroller just yet) is 2.5 miles. I rarely get to do the 2nd one as much as I like.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
