Im so nervous! I have my 3 Consults tomorrow morning.

Recommended Posts

I have butterflies in my tummy. I know I was approved, but I have some odd fear that something will hold me up getting a date.

Is there anything that I should watchout for in my appt? Any triggers that make them not want to clear you?

It seems like insurance approval is generally the biggest hill to climb. I'm sure you'll do just fine tomorrow. Good luck!!

Wow! That's a busy day for you. My insurance requires a 6 month medically supervised diet, so I get to spread my consults out. Doppler vascular was a piece of cake, no problems. Psych was actually kind of fun. We realized that we knew each other a long time ago and it turned into a gab session (well, a $200 gab session), pulmonary was ok, but since I had pneumonia in May he was VERY thorough and had me take a pulmonary function test which was no problem. Cardiac scared me. The cardiologist said I had a murmur, then said my resting ekg was good and later said there was something on it that he needed to look at further. I had to have an echocardiogram and sestamibi stress test. I worried for a week that there was a problem only to return to the cardiologist and find out that my heart is fine and the murmur benign. Just had the Upper G.I. today. Piece of cake. An injection of propofol, you blink and it's all over. Felt fine afterward. All I have left is the dietician and physical therapy clearances since I had some history of lumbar spine pain. Surgery will be in December. Hope all works out for you tomorrow. Relax!

Ok so I had a great consult. I got a thumbs up from all my docs. I just need to get an upper GI track xray and a TSH blood test. What I didnt realize is when I said i was approved by my insurance I was worng. My referral got approved, not my surgury. Grr. I feel stupid. lol I new it couldnt be that easy. Ugh.

So now I am getting that blood test so I can have my stuff sent off for surgical approval. I was also told my surgery can only be on a Mon or Tues. My plan was to have on a thurs so I could have weekend to recover and go back to work on monday. I am in a delema now. DOH!

First I begin, by saying hi to all my fellow New Yorkers lol....Corinne, I did the same thing with having 3 in one day. The faster the better......My original surgeon date was 9/21, butmy pcp did not clear me, I rarely see him since my plan doesn't require referrals, but I had a physical by him tonight and my schedule is next. Good lUck.....also Dr. Geiss Syosset Hosp

UPDATE: So i was really stressing about my thursday and go back monday plan being foiled. I just talked to my boss and he said that I can work from home as long as i get IT to put some needed programs on my laptop. I feel like I just got a gift. I didnt have enough time off this year to cover a monday surgery and the thought of waiting until Jan made me cry. I LOVE MY BOSS!! =)

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
