Plateau anyone?

Recommended Posts

I'm getting so discouraged right now. I haven't lost anything in almost 2 weeks. Matter of fact I've been going up and down like a yo yo by 3 lbs. I know it's not much in the scope of things... but i'm so discouraged. I was banded on 6/16/09 and have lost 32 lbs since then. Yes of course it's a victory but why the plateau? I've been exercising and eating right... getting my protien and Water in. Anyone else having or had this issue? If so, how did you break through? The other thing is that I'm getting myself back into a depressed state and feeling lonely again. Not doing so good right now. :tongue2:

Star, I don't know what to say except hang in there. Most or at least many of us have gone through what you are. 3 months is time enough for your body to get used to what you are doing so changing things a little might work. You need less calories than you did before so you might want to journal your food and start measuring quantities again for a while. Also change your exercise a bit if you have been doing the same things all along. Most of all, try to see all you HAVE accomplished and focus on that. Best wishes,

Mimi

OK... so here's an update. I just got back from the doc's office. I got another cc so I'm up to 4cc's in a 10cc band today. I'm hoping this will help me start losing again. How frustrating to be walking and exercising and such to only lose 1 lbs in 6 weeks! Wish me luck. :))

I have not lost anything in about 2 weeks myself. I drink my Water and get in my protiens also. Yes this can become quite depressing. My biggest struggle is not being able to "see" my weight loss. Hitting this plateau has made things worse. So, I'm right in the same boat as you. We CAN make it...hold on for the ride!

Oh! Good Luck! I lost about 1.5 lbs yesterday since the fill, but then I'm on liquids. I really hope this is just what I needed. A kick in the butt. The one thing I have to try to keep reminding myself is that I didnt get like this overnight and so I really need to stop expecting it to come off overnight. I guess i'm just anxious because I'm beginning to like what I see. For the first time since high school I'm able to walk into any store and buy clothing off the racks!

Hi Sandy,

Do you go for walks at all? I noticed the first time I hit a plateau that I needed to get my butt outside and go for a walk. I started with 15 minutes and have since worked myself up to an hour. The other day I finally got on my ellipital and did 30 minutes on there. So I get the frustration piece where we work so hard and see no scale results. How do your cloths fit? Have you taken any measurements? Sometimes we can have a non-scale victory. Hang in there... I'm with you... we can do this, right?

well, since this is my first time on line, it is very interesting to hear all of you. I was banded Oct of 2008. I have lost 60 pds, started out at 290. Goal is 170pds. I'm 5'10" which is my saving grace. My pant size has gone from 24 to 18 I want to see a 12... My dr asked me a few months ago if I'm trying to beat the band, so... that really got me thinking, I really try pushing it, my back is always a problem, it is impossible for me to exercise like I would like, but I hate excercising, and I think it is my biggest down fall. I have never regretted getting banded. I have only had 6cc for the last three months, tried 7cc and they had to remove it the next day, couldn't even get Water down. It is slow going and I was prepared for it, one to three yrs is what I was told and now I understand why, I have to retrain my brain, I still take too much food, but it is not going down, it's not hunger, just bad behavior that I'm used to.. I have two friends that went through gastric and are losing rapidly but what will help them when they start to regain as one friend of mine has done after two yrs. It's sad... At least we have the advantage of getting those fillings if we start to fit more food in. It has been two months of going up and down between three pounds, than I look at what I was doing and it is a no brainier, made three different kinds of Cookies and ate most of them DUH!!! Crackers go down easy, so I don't buy them anymore, it is such a struggle but I feel like I have a gift (a tool) to work with the rest of my life and I can't wait to get in that two piece!! Even at 56 I will look darn good, so my husband anticapiates

I do walk some...but mostly ride my bike. I have bad knees and heel spurs to deal with, so bike riding gives me the exercise I want without the pain. I also like to ride b/c I feel like I am actually getting somewhere******LOL

I joined Gold's Gym at the beginning of September and I have been going there about 3-4 times a week. I try to get my cardio on bikes and lifting on curcuit training (full body). I lift between 25-35lbs. just to tone, and I ride about 7 miles in 20-25 minutes. I try to at least stay active when I am not working out though. My Doc says If I'm not

:Dancing_tongue:huffin' and puffin

I'm not burning anything!!!

That's awesome that you're riding and weight lifting. Maybe that's what I need to start to do... lift weights. :tt2:

I hope you are feeling better!! I too was banded June 5th 2009. I have lost 37 pds. and I fluctuate with 3 pds. as well. I don't know why that is and or how to break that. I just keep telling myself that I am making progress and it's not about the numbers so much as it is how I feel about me and how my clothes fit. (clothes falling off is always good!) Hang in there....and good luck! :)

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
