BQT: I noticed that your insurance didn't approve you for surgery. Did you appeal that decision? My neighbor had to do that and she got approval on the second try.

Self pay... no additional fee for adjustments... ever.

Self pay. First three months of fills for free. After that, $15 each (pretty much cost of supplies).

wow! im so happy that I asked! quite a differing range--from zero to $15 to $250. okay, thanks sooo much, I wont be seeing teh dr. again for a few weeks which is when I give him my final decision, yet I still wanted to get an idea about certain things.

I will definately have to pay cash because Im 30BMI and I've had two dr.s say that it will always get denied by insurance unless Im at a 40bmi or 35 bmi with 2 major health issues (I currently have severe sleep apnea which is still not enough for insuraance to want to pay).

YOu guys are sooo amazing & I thank you for you help/advice!

For me you could either get free fills for a year by a nurse where I had the surgery or you could pay $150 for a fill done by the doctor at his office. Good Luck.

I just receivd an explanation of benefits and my fill doctor charged my insurance company $1500 for fills and called it surgery. Consequently, after Dec., I will have to find a different fill doctor.

I have never had a fill, but when I thought I might lose my insurance I called to find out how much my Dr. charges. $450.00! GEEeeezzzEEE! I have heard that sometimes insurance no longer covers fills because they don't think it is necessary after a certain point...so, hopefully if/when I need one, they will cover it!

Im self pay and fills are $350, but I got the first three 3. I've had 2 fills and 3 unfills and havent paid a dime. I know that seems high, But my surgeon portion of the surgery was low. So all you who have included fills or pay low, I am curious to know how much surgery was. If it was higher then I can see why fills are free.

I was self-pay. Included in the price ($9900) are 3 free months of fills, then $50 per fill.

3 months of free fills. She's aggressive too which I'm happy about because it's $250 a pop after that.

My doctor charges $425.00. My insurance only pays a negotiated amount of $279.10. I pay out a $300 deductible each year. Once I meet my deductible (which is after my first fill), then my insurance covers 80%. I ends up being about $69.00 a fill. I only had 4 so far this year. I am going to have a take the Fluid out for a couple days around Christmas, and then put the Fluid back in the following week. I did not get to Celebrate Christmas last year, since I had surgery 2 days before Christmas.

In any case, it can get quite expensive if you do not have insurance. My doctor actually changed his charges this year because Medical or Medicare stopped paying for the fills. Other insurance companies have been limiting fills. It is something you want to look at before getting surgery.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
