htrammel 0 Posted September 27, 2009 So I go in Monday morning 9/21 for my band. All goes well, I'm sipping Water a few hours later, try a little broth, all seems good. I check out and go home. (BCBS had authorized inpatient, but I knew I'd be more comfy at home). At home I have a bit of broth, and a nap. A bit of water and broth when I wake and then the pain started. Upper chest pain, hiccups, trying to burp. I assume I drank too fast and will just need to tough it out for an hour or so. 4 hours later it's even worse. The Doc says to go back to the hospital and he'll admit me. At the ER they do an EKG and chest x-ray for precautions. By then I'm throwing up what looks like foamy soap. My Doc decides that the band he installed was maybe a bit small, but wants to see if the swelling will go down. I stayed in the hospital from Monday night until Thursday night with nothing by mouth, not even an ice chip. Finally my Dr decides to install a different band and we got that done about 10pm Thur night. Was out of the hospital by Friday afternoon. All is great since then. I did lose 10lbs during the time I was in the hospital and have dropped 4 more lbs sonce coming home. Oh well, at least I know what awaits me if I ever push the envelope and try to overload my new stomach.
travel 0 Posted September 27, 2009 I sure hope you have no more problems. Are you more sore since they had to go back and re-do the surgery? Do they use the same incisions, since they haven't healed yet? I can't imagine having the same surgery twice, one right after the other. Best wishes to you for a trouble free future. Let us know how your progress is. Anita
htrammel 0 Posted September 28, 2009 Travel - He did use the same incisions. Not terribly sore. I didn't have any painkillers yesterday until bedtime. Feeling great today. Thanks for the good wishes.
