How long did your dr tell you to wait to bathe?

Recommended Posts

Not shower for cleanliness, mine said the next day, but I mean submerse yourself in the garden tub and soak. I would kill for a hot bath right now! I have looked through my literature and he doesn't say and I googled and it said 3 weeks which seems a little long.

Thanks!

Well I know I couldn't go swimming for 6 weeks. Call your doctor's office and ask.

Well, darn it, I wanted one tonight. I wish I would have thought to call yesterday. I will call Monday morning I guess.

I showered the next day after surgery. I was allowed to go swimming 2 weeks after surgery, when my inscisions where closed...

Never discussed this with my doc as we have such a Water shortage in Australia that most people don't bath. The shower uses far less water especially if you keep to the recommended 3 minutes or less!

My doctor used glue and I had no restrictons. I went to a pool a week after surgery to get some exercise (mostly just move around a bit in the water) and it was fine. The glue stayed on for a couple of weeks, I let it fall off by itself.

Thanks everyone. I took one last night. It felt great. I have glue, too, and have no pain at all in my incision site except slight tenderness, so I figured it is ok.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
