Momma,

I was banded on the 28th of August and I have moments of feeling the same way. I don't have time to write much right now, but I will write more later. Please know that you are not alone.

Hi, I was banded on 8/28/09. You are not alone! I too have been having good days and bad days since my surgery. I guess that is the reason everyone refers to this period as "bandster hell". Hang in there, I know it's tough but remember why you started this journey. The scales have not been kind to me over the past couple of weeks, so I have stopped weighing myself. I've just been concentrating on how far I've come and the differences in myself. I feel great and that's enough for me right now! I go for my first fill on Oct 9th. Best of Luck!

Banded on the 28th. First 5 days couldn't eat if I wanted to cause I hurt too bad. Left Shoulder pains nearly brought me to tears a few times. Went in for my first fill yesterday, bumped me up from 2 cc's to 4 cc's. That was different, great nurses to deal with though. I started to have days where I felt hungry before that, thought this would be hard, but I'm doing better. I find that if I stay busy, I forget about food altogether - so I try to stay busy. Even if it's looking at forums...

Doctor was happy with my weight loss after surgery 22lbs. in 4 weeks. Lost 87 lbs. total since first weekend in June, it was a rough summer.

When you go in for a fill they will check your band and see how quickly fluids go through, and adjust from there. Mine was going through pretty quick before the fill, slowed down alot afterwards.

Good Luck and remember you have support...

I was banded on August 26th and my weight loss stalled after I started back on solid foods. I got my first fill this past Thursday and I am hoping for restriction and for my scale to move!! I am also going to really push myself to get more exercise to help as well.

I hear it is normal to not lose before your first fill and to even gain. I gained about 3 lbs, my doctor expected it. Frustrating I know but I keep reminding myself this is a process... and going through the adjustments and such until we find out "sweet spot" will be frustrating. It helps for me to look at the oldtimers here and see how far they have come!!

Best of luck to you!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
