I was banded June 5th by Dr. Hollis in Houston and it has been nothing but a life saver! I started out at 301, in a 44 waist jeans moving to at 46 and looking for velcro shoes! As of today, i have had 3 fills. I started out with 4cc in a 10cc band and now at 6.7cc. The only thing's that give me issues are bread and dry meat... anything else goes done. How I got so lucky and have had no issue with eating food or things i don't know, but this thing works. I am now at 238 and 38 jeans. Dr. Hollis is a life saver! :(

Great news and well done. I hope I do as well as you. I got banded on the 15th Sept and sound about the same size and weight as you. 300 pound, size 42 jeans. I just hope I can lose the pounds over the next few months. I don 't get my first fill for another 4 weeks so I will have to be patient.

CONGRATS! Isn't it wonderful to feel in control again? I know you will be successful and the first thing you know, you'll be in size 36 jeans.

you are awesome, I keep reading about people who are banded and losing so much weight in so little time, how did you do it I'm only 5 weeks banded and lost 17lbs,but I am happy,I will be eating regular foods from here on end do you still take the Protein Shakes, I will try the powdered milk and add it to milk ,see how I like it Unjury Protein is great but costly, other Liquid Protein shakes are not as good at all, good luck

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
