Well I am kinda in that mood...I was filled again on 9/19 lost @ 8 the first 2 weeks, now nothing actually gaining a few OZ here and there. Although I can't eat much and the reflux has started...So for me I think I am over filled.

How many calories are you getting in? I have read that you should be getting in like 1100 - 1200 a day. See and right now for me that just isn't happening.

Good Luck...hope it starts working for you.

Yep - It took me a good 5 months and several fills before I felt any restriction at all and started to lose weight. It's been a year, 8 fills, up to 3.0 cc's, and I'm still not quite there yet. My doctor is very conservative about giving fills. I swear I should just book a trip back to MX and have Dr. Kuri top me off!

Check out the "Slow Losers" thread on the 'support' section. You are NOT alone! Hang in there - it will happen!

Hey Apple, I was stuck for 4 weeks and wouldn't loose a thing. I went back to counting my calories and drank 1 shake a day to help cut out some of the calories. It really helped. I am not exercising as I should but I am hoping to start walking in place while watching tv. Good Luck.

one other think to keep in mind is that while the scale may not be moving, are you losing inches? Are you gaining muscle pounds in exchange for fat pounds? Are you tracking your NSVs?

Baby, I know it is very hard be where you are, becuse that is where I've been since May. Please check out our slow loosers thread. I think it helps to know that you are not alone in this. http://lapbandtalk.com/showthread.php?t=10174&page=5

Update:

3 weeks after my 3rd fill I've lost 1# of the 2# I've gained. I had 4th fill schduled for mon. 24th but cancelled.

Felt like I needed some more time adjusting to fill #3.

In the mornings I would drink liquid. If I ate hamburger meat - could only eat few bites & didn't even get to veggies. Doc says eat Protein first, when I do, I don't get to eat veg. so I have to take herbal lax. Now trying to eat few bites protein with few bites veg. at meal instead of more protein. What are your comments on this.

Thanks for all input and suggestions. I will check out "Slow Losers" site.

Ann

I have had 3 fill thus far. 8cc total

I have lost 10 lbs total since May 24, 2005. I can eat anything I hope the next fill helps I have 3 cc left to fill.

I'm concerned for myself to say the least.

I think since you were not having success with just Protein first, then what is it going to hurt if you mix the two?

Also, you might have trouble with the hamburger meat and would do better with a different Protein? My DH cannot eat hamburger unless it is the consistancy of taco mean. I have no trouble with ground meats. Hmmm, I wonder if ground chicken will be easier than not ground.... I have a difficult time with chicken, haven't tried other poultry.

Hi,

I have one question:

Are your fills done with a fluoroscope, or are they being done "blind"?

Does you doctor use flouro? I have had good restriction b/c my doctor uses it and can see how much restriction I have. I wish you all the best and don't give up! You will get restriction at some point and then the pounds will come off.

Sometimes reading the posts here make me wonder if some people just weren't mentally ready for WLS and needed more time with the bariatric team psychiatrist. Complaining about the limited drink/food choices early on... blah..blah...blah. The living to eat mentality really needs to go and be replaced with eating to live. JS

We have to remember that everyone moves at their own pace. For some it may be harder to adjust, people may have other factors at play that feed into the unhealthy relationship with food e.g. eating disorders, trauma. I'd hope those who you are referring to address this outside of this forum, with a professional.

This is a place to feel safe to vent, seek advice, hopefully without judgement.

Compassion goes a long way :)

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.
