Recommended Posts

Hi Everyone!!

I have to tell you this has been a long journey but I'm so excited and you all keep me going!!!

I got banded on Monday Sept 21.. and I am so bloated. I feel like I'm pregnant because my stomach is hard. I have been walking and drinking Water every 15 minutes as instructed. I have also taken suppositories like the doc told me. I have not passed any gas in 3 days.. it doesnt seem to wanna come out.

**Nothing seems to be helping. is extreme bloating normal and how long does it last?

**Also, How long after surgery do you start to lose weight? I have gained 5 lbs since 3 days ago (when I got the surgery) It's obviously Water weight.

***My last question is.. I have been eating sugar free Jello along with water throughout the days.. is this ok to have a lot of sugar free Jello? I don't want it to get in the way of me losing weight.

Thank you all so much for your answers in advance!

Goodluck and God Bless

Hi, I was banded on the 16th and my worst day was my 2nd day post op, I was bloated and hurting and I was told to take the gas x strips that melt on your tongue, unfortunately I was told this a couple days ago, so I suffered with it. But, ask yuor Doc if you can use that and see if it helps. I was also lucky not to have to be on liquids or mushies, I went right in and was eating solids, thank you someone! I have done well with my weight loss I did lose. I cant see where the Jello would hurt BUT you really really need Protein. Take care and good luck.

I was banded on Tuesday 9/22 and have had no problems with bloating... my surgeon told me to take Gas-X strips as soon as I got home from the hospital and every few hours as directed and I think that's helped. I've had minimal discomfort and not too much of that phantom shoulder pain... try it, it might still help.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
