Sounds normal as there is a huge liquid component just make sure you are sipping it very slowly so you do not go over your full quota!

Are you allowed to drink that much at once?

I am restricted to 1-2 oz per 15 minutes so I haven't yet gotten to feeling "full"

Last week, 1st week post op, I was restricted to 1 oz per 15 min.

Next week on pureed we are to start with the 3 meals a day restriction and lots of SF fluids in between. At that point we are restricted to 1/2 cup of food. We keep that amount during week 4 of soft foods.

During week 5 is when we are supposed to eat meals of 1 cup of regular foods. I can't wait to have a piece of chicken that I CHEW!!! I just paid over $6,000 for new crowns, and fillings, I want to see if these suckers work.

It was normal for me to drink 1 cup of Soup 4 days out. You may have a lot less stomach swelling than some others 4 days out. Everyone is different.

I remember talking with my doctor about quantities and he mentioned that other than watching the calories and making sure you are staying in the guidelines or the correct diet phase for liquids/mushies/etc quantity is not as important as making sure you are not feeling uncomfortable or not following the rules for the stage.

Remember that liquid DOES NOT STAY in the pouch but passes on through. Drinking a cup of Soup really doesn't do anything but pass through the band area and into the lower part of your stomach. That's why you aren't supposed to drink with your meals or for a period after once you start eating solid food .... the well chewed food will wash right through along with all the liquid and eliminate any feeling of satisfaction from having eaten.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
