I'm scheduled!!!

Recommended Posts

Well I have had trials and tribulations to get here, but I am scheduled for October 27. I am self pay and boy has it been a mess to figure out how to pay for this. It is crazy that Medicredit would only approve me for $4,000 and after racking my brain thinking and applying (ditech for home equity loan, no go. credit cards, not enough available credit, etc....) I went to my bank. I was approved for a $9,000 personal loan and got it at 12%. Thank goodness I didnt accept Medicredit at 22%. Hello to all bandsters, I am sure I will be on here frequently in the future.

It is so worth it, you won't be sorry. If you ever have questions or need advice this board is great for helping everyone out. Lots of experience banders on this sight, have you looked at the before and after pictures? Talk about inspiring, wow! As far as the health benefits alone are well worth it, trust me I know, I no longer need insulin for my diabetes and the doctor cut my blood pressure meds to 1/4!!! And that's after only two months. I was banded in 2002, lost 120 lbs, had the fill removed, on purpose, and gained all of my weight back. But that was my doing, long story, but now that I have resolved my issues, I still have the band and boy am I glad. Went back in August, had a fill, been loosing weight ever since! It's wonderful and amazing.

I wish you good luck with your surgery and very speed recovery.

Keep us posted.

Cindy

Hiya Glitter!

Congratulations!!

I sure know what you are talking about. I've been on this journey for almost 5 years now, and sometimes, finding the funding to pay for this surgery is the hardest part! I've tried everything you've tried too, with no luck. But I know it will happen for me, so I choose not to give up, just like you. Your story does give me a little inspiration to go by. :) NEVER GIVE UP!

Anywho, congratulations again, and I wish you a successful surgery! Hope you enjoy the forum, it's has a great source of information, and the people here are so willing to help out in anyway they can.

Take Care.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
