Pre-op diet-liquids for 2 weeks!

Recommended Posts

Well, today I started my 2 week liquid diet. :smile2: I sure hope I can make it without cheating. I just have to be determined. We'll see how I am in a few days.

All I know is that I got through day 1. :bored:

13 days left.

You will make it :smile2:

I only had to do a 2 day clear liquid diet before surgery and I am on a full liquid diet since surgery (9/11).

The less sugar and carbs you give your body the less hungry you feel. I focus on the Proteins. My husband had very good intentions when he bought me a milkshake... but after I drank it I had serious hunger-attacks for two days straight, no more sugar for me.

You will make it, our surgeons have reasons for putting us on those liquid diets and when I have a weak moment I always remind me of my goal.

Keep us informed of your progress!

You can do it. Look at it this way: 'cheating' isn't an option. Follow the rules as they are written exactly.

Make yourself a chart and count down the days-- that is what I'm doing. You'll be there before you know it.

The first two days were my hardest, but after that, the cravings subsided. Then I got through the first weekend and realized I was over halfway through. The next weekend was a three day holiday weekend trip with extended family, but I knew my surgery was just a couple days after I got back home, so I made it through unscathed. Little victories made it doable for me. :bored:

Day 5. Going strong. I get a little hungry here and there, and I immediately get a bowl of Soup with the Protein Powder mixed in. It helps alot. I can't believe I am doing it. I am determined not to fail! This is the beginning of my new life, and I can't wait to start enjoying the new me.

You know, the unflavored unjury is the best. I can put it in anything, and it even makes the Soups taste better....much creamier.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
