I was banded on 9/18/09 and i am basically doing great. I am sticking to my liquid diet. I have had some left shoulder pain but my biggest issue is my crotch hurts. I feel like i was kicked in my crotch and am brused. it hurts to sit up straight. I know i was cathorized but does it burse you? My husband says call the doctor and ask but i am embarassesd about it. I dont know why but here i sit on a pillow. So mabye this has happened to some one else and i am not just abnormal. how long does it last.

oh i forgot to add that i started my period the day of surgery. I was two weeks late and of coures i had to start the day of my surgery. Natures llittle joke to have them on the same day.

I was banded on 9/14 and have had the same thing. It would hurt when I would pee or when I would wipe. I have been using monistat (I just assumed I had a yeast infection). It is finally beginning to feel better.

Call your dr. Don't play around. If you have pain with urination or pain in general you may have something going on or nothing significant. Typically there is no bruising as it is a latex/rubber of sorts tubing. You may have some inital discomfort when inserted and removed but otherswise be ok. Call your Dr. There are no embarrassing questions in a Dr. office.

I agree with Maranda. You need to call your Dr.

Why would they cath you? My lapband / hiatal hernia surgery must have been much easier I guess ... no need for a cath.

I have had a few other surgeries over the years where a cath was required and there was never any bruising or discomfort of any kind. I do not think it is very normal.

Call the dr. so they know what is going on with you and, if only for the reason to let the Hospital know who ever is inserting the cath is doing it wrong !

Call your doctor and talk to his nurse. The cath shouldn't hurt unless they tried to pull it out w/o deflating the balloon first. That hurts!!!

I wasn't catheterized for my band surgery, but I just had a cystoscopy last week, which is similar to being catheterized, just for a shorter amount of time. They actually gave me the same info as cath patients. It hurt more after the tube was withdrawn than when it was inside of me! I was told that I could have some pain for a couple of days (especially when urinating). They said to call the office if I had pain past a few days, as an infection could develop. Luckily it subsided after two days. I would call the doc if you are still in pain at this point.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.
