Kind of a gross question

Recommended Posts

Okay...so Im on my mushies now, which was a little difficult this past weekend as we had to travel out of town, so maybe that is why this happened.

Anyhow...yesterday we were in the car driving through the rainstorm in Kansas and my stomach started gurgling. I knew I was going to have to go to the bathroom SOON! I had severe diarrhea, where I literally could not have held it for a minute longer. Is this normal?? Maybe because I ate something I shouldnt have??? I NEVER want to live through those moments again!

Thanks!

Tonya

That has happened to me a few times, usually after I've tried to eat something different than what I was used to. What did you eat before that?

Well, yesterday morning I just had some scrambled eggs. I am still supposed to be in the mushy phase. So the problem was over the weekend, traveling, I wasnt always in charge of what I ate (we had to eat out a lot and at people's homes) so I was trying hard to stay with mushy food, but didnt always manage. I just wondered if it was because I ate more solid food than I should have or if this is a common occurrence?

I'm guessing it was because your stomach wasn't ready for anything solid yet. It does happen, but not too often, in my experience. Don't worry, you're fine! If happens more regularly, give your doc a call, but I wouldn't really worry.

Thanks Carrie! It was quite disconcerting being on the turnpike with no where to stop and having that feeling hit! Yikes! Thank God for a quick husband! lol

LOL I can imagine! :bored: Hopefully you won't have to deal with that again. And you know, maybe being on the road made your stomach a little more sensitive too! Good luck!

I had the worst diarrhea ever on and off until I was back on solids. Eating just mushies, a few solids, and drinking a lot (usually more than most of us drank before) doesn't give your systems enough solids yet. It should get better with more solids...I never have a problem now.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
