How do you get your 64 ounces of water in a day?

Recommended Posts

Since surgery on 09/11 it has been hard for me to get in all my Water. With the restrictions on when you drink before and after you eat and not drinking too much at one time I am having a hard time with this. Any tips?

Keep a bottle of Water by your bed at night. I drink a bottle a night and that helps.

I have a tall slim bottle that came with Water in it. I got it from Walmart. It is 33.8 oz. I fill it each morning and carry it around with me where ever I go. By about 1p.m., I have managed to drink it all. I then fill it up again and try to get it in before 9pm. I have to admit that I don't always get in both bottles everday but I do most days.

I keep a water bottle in sight at all times. If I don't see it, I forget about it entirely. I've discovered that I do a much better job of drinking it if it's cold, so I stick my bottle in the freezer for 45 minutes or so every once in a while.

I fill a 32oz bottle in the am, I start my day with a full cup because I don't eat Breakfast until I have been up for a while. My doc says 64oz of Fluid, so he is counting my Soups, popcisles, and smoothies. I do the smoothies as a snack and I do low cal latte in place of coffee. Crystal Lite type drinks (Wal-Mart brand) don't have the cals and give me flavor, love the peach tea. I keep a cup in the bathroom and use the Water out water in system. I close out the night with at least a full cup before bed. I don't keep count, it just comes in.

I drink my Water on a schedule. I drink 20 oz bottles three times per day and each takes me about 30 minutes to drink. I figure I get the other four ounces just in other beverages/fruits/veggies.

1 - first thing in the morning I drink my first bottle. wait 30 minutes, eat breakfast

2 - eleven o'clock am (done by 11:30, eat lunch at 12:00)

3 - five o'clock pm, drive home and drink Water. 5:30 start supper and eat about 6:00.

I find if I schedule things, exercise included, it is easier for me to accomplish.

My dr said 64 ounces of any fluids as long as it doesn't have caffeine. So, I'm drinking Decaf tea. I love tea, and it seems to go down easier than water.. I just don't like Water.< /p>

This was a tough one for me. I ended up in a LOT of pain because I neglected this rule. I now drink 4 16oz bottles of Water a day. One in the morning before brkfst, one before lunch, one before dinner and 1 before bed. I use a straw which helps a great deal. At first I felt like I sloshed every time I walked. But now if I miss a bottle, I crave it. It has gotten much easier over time. So hang in ther and it should become 2nd nature before long. Good luck!

I keep a Weight Watchers 32 oz mug with me at my desk at work all day. I manage to drink 2 mugs per day at work. I found it goes down easier for me if it's not ice cold. Then, when I come home, after I work out every day, I have a 20 oz bottle of Water, sometimes more. On average, I get about 80 oz a day, if not more.

I really do find it impossible to get in 64 oz of Water daily. The way the eating has to be done there is very little time or room in my tummy for water. I do drink alot of water as I talk on the phone all day and simply need it to keep from losing my voice. My eating is more important as I do not wish to become nutrient deprived. I eat 5-6 small meals a day to keep up my strength. I have to wait till NOV to get my 2nd fill and I simply can not wait! It is a work things new job, in training and not able to miss at all not even for a docs appt at this time. Sucks but the job is awesome and the pay is something I do not wish to lose out on..Times are tough and we must do what we have to. Good luck and keep up the great work.

I find that this is virtually impossible for me. I can hardly do 1 quart of Water because I'm so nauseous and quick to fill up.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
