Our early year blizzard is over.

DeLarla, you would have loved this one. Blizzards this time of year are cool because they can be nasty but you know they won't be real cold and will melt. Blizzards in January when the wind chill is 80 below zero and means days without electricity and heat and months before the snow melts are not fun.

Alatina, are you out there? I saw Langdon got 15 inches of snow. This must be a treat for a Texan. Hope you are well and stayed warm - do you have electricity and heat yet?

Anyone else want to come enjoy a storm - plan for January - those are better. Celeste

Oh gosh, wasn't that the roughest storm ever. I'm in the Turtle Mountains right now. We got so much snow & the kids are on their 3rd day without going to school. That means school free for 6 days in total because there isn't school on Monday and my sister runs a daycare...so can you imagine how crazy it is here right now. *LOL.*

My brother in law left his vehicle in Minot, and my brother called to tell him that there was a big ol' tree sitting on top of it the next morning!

I've lived here for 28 years and I've never seen anything like it. We were out of electricity from 12:30 p.m Wednesday, to 7:00 a.m. Thursday. Kinda makes one appreciate what they do have. It was pretty fun though, we stayed warm, but I'm sure any longer we would have gotten pretty cold. My parents were telling us stories of how they used to live like that when we were younger. They made it sound so easy. *LOL*

Well, my fellow North Dakotans, bundle up. They say it's going to be a long winter. We didn't even get to enjoy our Fall season! That sucks. :) Ahh well, this is an unpredictable state though isn't it. Expect the unexpected, as they say. ;)

Joelle, I'm sure I could swap stories with your parents. (and I'm probably their age). When I was in grade school, every home in town with school children was designated as a snow home for the school kids that rode the bus. Instead of letting school out early or cancelling, they kept all the kids in town to overnight at their snow home at any sign of bad weather.

It was always neat to cook hotdogs and popcorn over the fireplace the first time electricity went out but after a day it got old...

Ah, those weren't the good old days...Celeste

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
