Got my first fill today!

Recommended Posts

thanks for your good wishes.

I rang the hospital today and they have arranged a barirum(sp?) x ray for me tomorrow, it's possible I may a flipped port and a leak somewhere from all the proding at my attempted unfill earlier in the week. the hospital says that if this is the case I will have to go for more surgery.

I was very down and upset about this when I heard but now i have decided that all this is a blip along the way and I have to get on with it!

my daughter (who is a hairdresser) has just 'done' my hair and I have decided to tidy myself up, put on some make-up and some happy music and not let things get to me anymore. what is to be, is to be and there is very little I can do to change things.I am gonna put a happy smile on my face and cheer up, i'm fed up being miserable!

Hi Eileen,

Good for you for getting dollied up for the night! :scared2:

This too shall pass... you will get the matter resolved and move forward. I've heard of port flipping and such. There was a guy who had surgery the day I had my surgery who was getting a new port due to a leak. It happens... you will be fine.

I hope you had a wonderful evening... I need to get dressed up and go out.. it has been TOO long!!

I had my first fill when they put the Fluid in It felt like it ran down the inside of my stomach. I do not feel restriction, I wonder if the port leaked. Has anyone felt this? What did it feel like when they put your fluid in?

I really didn't feel anything inside, but I can tell you I have nooooooooo restriction yet!! i cant eat anything I want!! I am waiting to hopefully get restriciton next Thursday with my next fill. I want to PB on pizza or bread so I can just not want to eat it!!! It's driving me crazy I am such a carb junkie.

Did you tell your doctor what you were feeling at that moment? I would talk to him/her if you havent. Maybe it's normal. I will see if I feel anything similar next time I go.

I just got my 1st fill today!! My Dr gave me 3cc's into a 12cc band. So I honestly don't expect any restriction. I have an appointment in qabout 2 1/2 weeks for another check & fill. I can't wait for the band to engage & start giving me restriction.

He also told me to do liquids for at least the rest of the day. And my nutishionist wants me to do 3 days of liquids after a fill. I figure a few days of liquids can only help my weight loss so I'm going to do the 3 days.

My Dr. also gave me the OK to start doing some light weights. I've been doing only cardio stuff at teh gym so I'm glad I can start a little lifting. ONly light weights to being. But it's important to do.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
