just wondering....

Hi everyone,

Hope everyone is doing well & LOSING WEIGHT!!!

I was banded on August 25th... and so that puts me as of today 3 weeks and 3 days being banded.

Thank the lord, I have had no real problems and everything has gone smoothly.

I was wondering.... how much weight have/had you lost at the 3 week range. Now I know that everyone is different and I am in no way making it a competition, I just want to see if I am doing about normal or if I am under performing...(can you tell that I am very hard on myself!)

When I weighed this morning I was down 22 lbs.

Now right after surgery the weight was flying off-- now not so much but I am working out 2 times a day. I get up at 5 am and hit the treadmill for an hour, and then in the evenings do a dance aerobics class(that I really hate doing BUT it sure does burn the calories) followed be about 35-45 minutes on the treadmill.

Anyways, I do wish everyone the best and would appreciate any responses!

Happy Losing everyone!

At 3 weeks you really should not be focused on what you are losing. I know it is hard not to, but the goal now is learning how to eat again. Also, I would start measuring myself once a month and only weighing my self one day a week (if you feel you must) at around the same time on the same day.

It is great to see your excitement and dedication, but even during weight loss...the scale can be the enemy.

Oh I completely agree on the scale... the thing is -- IF i do gain from the previous day - I dont get upset... weight fluctuates... in EVERYONE..

and I do concentrate on my new way of life... I am extremely organized and plan the foods out -(and a back up plan in case I am having trouble getting what I cooked down) I am eating healthier and having no problems getting back into the workout phase....

I guess what I am trying to determine... is I am getting married next May-- and I am gonna HAVE to start looking for a dress in November - december and I am setting goals and I know that there is only so much I can do - ie: eat healthy, follow my diet plan, and work out... other than that - my body might hit a plateau...

BUT in saying that, I do still have lots of mini goals and dates... and am gonna do everything in my power to hit those and if I dont then I have to re-evaluate my goals and see if the timeline was too short or maybe my body is adjusting...

but all in all, I was just wondering the average time line and what people have lost.

You are WAY ahead of me. I was banded the day after you and have lost 13.5 pounds. During the last week, I've only lost a half pound. I am trying to focus on what and how much and how I eat until the first fill which won't be until 10/21, and not worry so much about the weight.

BTW, I bought my wedding dress off the rack about 6 weeks before the wedding and it was gorgeous!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
