Calling all adeladian bandsters!!!

Recommended Posts

Do you know anyone or know anyone who knows someone who is affected by cancer? Do you want to get some good exercise in to help with your weight loss? Do you want to meet and bond with other bandsters?

I am sure your answer is yes to all these questions!! I know it is for me and I am the Ceremonies Coordinator for the Southern Relay for Life that is happening on 21/22 of November at the beautiful McLaren Vale Sporting Complex. I would love to get some Adelaidian bandsters to form a team to do this walk. It is for a great cause, its a fun, party atmosphere, great exercise and great bonding time!! To find out more go to Relay For Life - Cancer Council Australia and click on SA's southern relay.

PLEASE let me know if you are interested.

Cheers, Laurie

Hi Suzie76,

Yes, I will tell you more. It starts in the afternoon at 2pm with opening ceremonies, then survivors and carers walk the first lap then everyone else starts walking. It is a walk around an oval with one member from each team (should have at least 10 members on each team) walking at all times. So you take turns with your team members in walking. It ends the next morning at around 9am with closing ceremonies. At sunset there is a candlelight ceremonies and throughout the entire relay there is a stage with performers, music and lots of other stuff to do and see. It is a fun, party atmosphere but also a remembrance of lost ones and hope to survivors. Each team is encouraged to raise money, the amount is up to each individual. You take a tent since it is overnight and they are set up in the middle of the oval. There will be dinner and Breakfast there if you choose to have it. If you can't stay all night you can leave and come back as long as one member from the team is still there. Let me know what you think!!! Check out the website as well. It is an AMAZING experience and hard to describe unless you have been there!!!

Cheers, CallieOzgirl

Sounds like fun! I will have to get my daughter looked after, as my Hubby will be away for work. I am sure if we asked at Dr Bessell's office we could get more people involved, maybe Dr Helen and Dr Bessell themselves?? LOL!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
