pvgrl 0 Posted September 23, 2009 OMG-what a great post. Once I don't read or go to this site for a week or so, I am so glad when I get back. I learn so much from yall. This is the best web site for anyone who has had or is thinking a/b the band. I haven't had my first fill yet-it's scheduled for 10/12--I had a few days of bad nausea after surgery-I'm doing sooo good now. The fills scare me-I don't want to be nauseous again, but if I am, I'll make it through.
phenry 0 Posted September 24, 2009 I just got my second fill today. The first one was 4cc's and this one was two. I am on liquids and so far so good. I really can't feel anything different. Maybe once I start eating solids again I will be able to see a difference. It just seems to affect people in different ways. My doc always wants me to ease in to the new fill. Liquids for a few days (well he says a week) then mushies, then solids. I think that is a bit overkill, so I just follow my bodies lead.
StrangeDz 1 Posted September 28, 2009 I tend to get a little yucky feeling for a few days after a fill. I've had 5 so far, as I can only tolorate .5 cc's at a time. When he puts a whole cc, I cant keep the Water down in his office, so he ends up taking half out. I have 5 ccs in my 10 cc band now. After my first fill, I had a weird sensation on the left side. Kinda like a heart attack! They said it was normal. I guess it was ok, cause I'm still around! After this last fill I noticed that when I eat, I feel pressure where the band is. I hear tell that is what I should be feeling as I get close to that 'sweet spot'. Hopefully that will be soon! :smile2:
LindaD 3 Posted September 30, 2009 I just had one today, .4 cc's. I feel fine - had dinner with the family. I think I feel a little tighter but not sure. So now I have 2.8cc's of Fluid in there. Hopefully it will pick up the pace a little bit. I've lost 3-4 pounds in the past month, which isn't bad but given how ACTIVE I have been - averaging more than an hour a day of good, solid activity, I feel like it should be a little more than that. So we'll see if the fill helps...
jordie22nc 0 Posted October 9, 2009 so how do you lose the weight if you fell the same after your fill.
StarsZie 3 Posted October 9, 2009 so how do you lose the weight if you fell the same after your fill. I guess you really shouldn't "feel" much different except when you have your meals. You should feel fuller faster and stay fuller longer. That's really the only difference. I have to say after my first fill I did have major shoulder pain for about 24 hours. The PA told me it was because the band was pushing on my diaphram and caused the pain (I had 2cc's at that time). After my second fill I felt like I had just eaten a Thanksgiving meal. (1 cc) Then yesterday I had 1cc again and I felt fine, no different after the fill. I do notice today I have to drink a little slower than I had been and I'm sure that has to do with the added restriction for which I am extremely please about. It takes a while to get to that "sweet spot"... I think i'm just about there. You'll get there too!
SassyB 0 Posted October 9, 2009 I've had 4 fills, go for another one today and I haven't gotten sick after getting them. I do the liquids for 24 hrs., then mushies the next day. I have no restriction what so ever. I'm praying that today the restriction comes.

prgb 0 Posted October 9, 2009 I had my second fill two days ago. I got the gurgling sounds and had to drink very slowly. My dr. does liquid for the balance of the fill day plus one more day. Then 2 days of mushy then back to a regular diet. I can fill the restriction for sure. After a cup of coffee this morning, I didn't want to eat Breakfast. I am hoping to see a reduction in the quantity of food with this fill. I am 3.6 of a 10 cc band. Surgery Aug 13, 2009
CASSIEME1 1 Posted October 9, 2009 when the doctor is in the process of giving me a fill, i do feel a bit different. It's like i can feel the band tightening around my stomach as he is pushing the saline in. I've never felt any bloating or gas after the fill, just this weird feeling right where the band is. After the first few fills in the beginning, i felt restriction for a couple of weeks and then it went back to normal. The last fill that i had, which was in july, i felt restriction immediately and still have good restriction. I think i was actually too tight after the last one and eventually it loosened up a bit, but not enough to where i need another fill. I feel like i'm at my sweet spot right now. how do i get the ticker under my user
phenry 0 Posted October 9, 2009 I am liking the way things are going after my second fill. The weight loss is slow...but that's okay. At least I can eat what I want...just not as much of it. I will see how this goes and if my loss is the recommended 2 pounds a week, then I will be happy to keep chugging along like this!
ms.kelley-rn 0 Posted October 10, 2009 how do i get the ticker under my user Go to www.tickerfactory.com and set up a profile. Then copy the URL address from there and paste it in the "edit signature" link on this website. Let me know if you can't get it. It's been so long since I've set it up, I might have forgotten a step. SassyB 0 Posted October 13, 2009 Thanks All. I had my 5th fill on 10/9 and I finally have restriction. This is great! I had a boiled egg and had to stop eating because it got stuck. , but it was good in a way. since I was starting to fell like the band wasn't going to work for me. I felt good about not over eating this past weekend. I was actually able to leave food on my plate...I can remember the last time I have done that! So now I'm back at work after the Holiday. I'm a secretary so I don't get much movement. I've had 1/2 cup of oatmeal and coffee this morning. I'm feeling full, I love this.
hmarko 0 Posted October 15, 2009 Listen after you get your fill, drink a glass of Water, kinda of gulp it. If you cant keep it down or it feels like its still in your throat, then ur good. Stay there until you fininsh the Water ansee how your fel. if you have no probls gulping water and keeping it down, then u are ot filled enuff!!! Isn't that backwards? I thought you should sip the water and it should go down in 15 mins... why would you try and make yourself bring it up? I'm interested in this because today was my first fill and I asked them if they can go aggressive. I ended up w/ 5.5 cc's total (had 1.5 already so he put in 4)... well I tried sipping on the little dixie cup of water and in 45 mins i couldn't get thru 2/3 of it due to the pressure in my chest - was that good? I think that was too tight. If i gulped it yea it would have come up. So he took out .8 cc's and I think if I gulped water now it would still come up - when I am drinking the liquids I feel full up top but not the same painful'ish' pressure with the 5.5 cc's. I had my second fill two days ago. I got the gurgling sounds and had to drink very slowly. My dr. does liquid for the balance of the fill day plus one more day. I do 2 days liquid (and if I still can't handle mushies on day 3 another day of liquid and if i STILL can't handle it to call them). Did you feel the way I described above? I had them take some saline out before I left. I'm going back in 3 weeks anyway. If I'm starving between then I'll just call them but I doubt I will be.. who knows
