Looking for Dr Spivak's Patients

Recommended Posts

That is where the conflicting information comes in--his literature and website say 24-48 hours, but the booklet I got after surgery and the nurse told me 2 weeks. But, I do not think I can do the two weeks. I can't sleep tonight because I am so hungry. I just got up and drank some milk (which I dispise) blech.

I was hungry after the first week day and night until I got on solids and had my first fill at 4 weeks post op. Since then I have had no hunger at all. The head hunger is getting better too.

I can't believe Dr. Spivak moved . . . I had an issue and went to see the docs who took over his patients in early July, and honestly was not impressed at all. Dr. Spivak's shoes will be hard to fill.

I am wondering if any of you have seen the new docs, or if you are going to go somewhere else for your lap-band care / issues??

I miss Dr Spivak so much. Which Doctor did you see Yu or Scrabrough? I am seeing Dr Terry Scrabrough as they told me he will fill me with Omnipaque which is what Dr Spivak put in my Band since the begining. I go on the 22 of Sept. Dr Yu will not. I will let you know how it goes

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
