I had my 3 hour class yesterday and have surgery next Wednesday. I have lost 15 pounds in a week and a half so I am psyched about that. Anyway, of course they told me that I will never, ever, ever eat bread again. If that is the case I can live with it, but just wondering if any of you can tolerate bread with restriction. If so what kind. I am not looking to have it is a part of my diet, but on rare occasions it would be nice.

Sometimes I can tolerate a little bread; it just depends on what "mood" my band is in that day! Once in a while I will have a piece of thin crust pizza, a small piece of well-toasted garlic bread, and the other day I was shocked that I could eat and keep down a grilled cheese sandwich! But I can never count on being able to keep bread down, so I don't do it too often. If I feel tight and/or have already PB'd that day, I definitely stay away!

i have no problem so long as it's thin sliced & toasted well.

thin crust pizza is also not a problem.

I have not tried plain bread yet. I have eaten toasted bread and 1/2 a toasted cinnamon raisin bagel. I took very small bites and ate very slowly, and had no issues. That being said, my band was installed with no Fluid in it and I have yet to have my first fill, so I anticipate my ability to eat bread may change.

I avoided bread early on since Wonder White bread was my crack, but these days I can and do eat bread. Just not in the huge volumes I did pre band.

I can eat bread, and I've never had a stuck episode with it. For instance, I can eat a small slice of Papa John's pizza regular crust. I self limit on white bread products because unless it's a special treat for myself (ex. small homemade dinner roll), I don't want the empty calories, but I don't have a problem with bread products because of the band. Thankfully, with the band, I'm satisfied with just a small bit, and the band does regulate me in that I can't scarf down a huge dinner roll mindlessly. The band will kick your butt if your overdo it.

I just had my first fill yesterday and I haven't tried bread yet but I am and was told I could eat bread. I like the others eat thin crust pizza and I have found this new sandwich bread called sandwich thins by orowheat. I toast them and then put whatever sandwich filler inside. I have yet to mess with untoasted bread. I am just nervous about the untoasted bread. Also toasting the bread makes me chew more which of course is the whole idea of the band.

I can eat any bread I've encountered. I stood in the kitchen a few months back and ate 2 pieces of white bread...not toasted, no butter, nothing but the bread. I did that to see if I could, actually (not a huge bread fan but I am a fan of variety) and it went down just fine.

So we're all different. I don't eat it much because as I said I'm not a bread fan, I don't much like sandwiches, etc. But bread, and breading, doesn't give me any problems. And I'm at my sweet spot.

No problem with any breads for me as well. I'm not at my sweet spot yet, I've got 8.something in a 10cc band

well I definately have issues with bread! I so crave a bologna and cheese sandwich!! I know gross huh? but when you can't have it you want it! LOL ! I have tried numerous kinds of breads and cake and cornbread goes down fine, and i have had luck with wheat bread on rare occasions, but white bread is a NO NO for me.

I don't have a problem with eating bread at all, except that I haven't wanted to eat too much of it. I am usually too full to eat both pieces of bread, if eating a sandwhich or if I eat a turkey burger, I usually don't eat the top bun because I know I would be too full.

I love brerad so not having bread will be very difficult for me. I hope I am one of those who can eat bread. At least once in a while when I go to Olive Garden or Lone Star. that is maybe once a year, but almost the best part of the meal

I eat bread with no problem too, I usually have half a piece of toast in the morning, and often eat a sandwich for lunch. I cant eat the entire thing, and i have to cut the crusts off - why waste stomach space on crust when you can eat the bread part and nutritious filling?

Good idea about the crusts. I still hate those darn things.

Depends on how my band is feeling that day. Tonight I had a slice of light bread with a turkey frank and had no problem. This past Saturday I had a piece of toast with jelly and couldn't keep it down. I was a huge bread lover before surgery but since I can never tell when my body is going to tolerate the bread, I don't eat it as often. I just try to enjoy the moments when I can keep it down.:)

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.
