If the purpose of the band is to get foods to "sit" in the upper pouch for as long as possible, then why do I feel the food going through immediately?

I mean, if I don't chew things well enough, I know it because it gets stuck. But, why do I feel it right away? Shouldn't it take a while for it to start to move through?

The obvious answer might be that I don't have enough restriction yet because I haven't had a fill, but if I don't chew extremely well, food gets stuck. So, I am sure I already have a bit of restriction.

Oh, gees. I sound like I am talking in circles. I'll stop typing now. :mad2:

It seems to be a huge balancing trick to me. I was there too. Sounds like you need a tiny, tiny bit more restriction and to re-educate the chewing system. Half a year down the line - I sometime still forget to chew properly. Just when you find your sweet spot - you'll lose enough weight in a few weeks to start all over. Great fun!

My doctor says that I don't have any fill at present but each person's anatomy is different and I might feel some tightness at times. I get my first fill on the 23rd.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
