gatorgal 0 Posted September 20, 2009 I purposely didn't set a "number" goal that was related to a certain time on the calendar. My goal was to be thinner in a year than I was at surgery. If I worry about numbers or about comparing myself to others, I get very discouraged. For this reason, I compare myself only to me. As my weight comes off, I may set mini-goals but never in a certain time frame. Right now, I'm close to 50 lbs lost since surgery (June 29), but I don't have a time frame for when I will lose it, only that I will lose it. Does that make sense? I find myself able to cope better by not competing with a calendar
crzytchr 3 Posted September 20, 2009 I had hoped to lose 100 the first year, but I lost 82 instead. I am extremely pleased with my loss. Also, I have just recently had a 3 month plateau end. What is so amazing is that, prior to being banded, a plateau that long would have sent me into a eating frenzy, because I would've thought, "why not, I'm not losing anyway." My band helped me keep my weight stabilized until I began losing again. I LOVE MY BAND!!!!

I thought when I went on a two week vacation and made poor choices, I would gain weight. I think because I was liimited in how much I could eat, I didn't lose, but most importantly, I didn't gain. I'm not losing as fast as I would like but if I had wanted to lose weight fast, I would have had the by-pass.
TeganRheana 1 Posted September 22, 2009 Thanks everyone for your comments....I will admit I am struggling at the moment with my food choices, I tend to go for the foods that I think/know will go down easiest which I know is not the right thing to do, but I am working on it now that I have realised that is what I have been doing. I am happy with my weight loss so far, I am happy losing gradually as long as it does come off eventually - just feels like forever!! The last fill I had has definately helped so I feel as though I am on my way again now...hope it lasts!! Thanks again - your all an inspiration to me!
