Hi Everyone,

I will be banded in mid Oct...and I'm self pay...

The "global price" includes all services/surgery/hospital stay/etc. This includes 3 nights in the hospital if I want/need it. There is no refund if I stay less than the 3 nights.

So the question is...did any of you leave same day or next day from surgery and wish you had stayed longer in the hospital? :)

I don't sleep well in the hospital (who does?), but I like the idea of having IV meds handy just in case as well as the nursing staff for the extra assistance/care.

Thanks for the advice!

Hi,

I was also self pay. My package only included one night in the hospital. I had a complication that required I stayed an additional night. Like you, I hated the thought of sleeping in the hospital, but I have to say, having a nurse there to stay on top of my medication and having assistance getting up and around, was all a big plus. I would definitely stay for one night and if you are still feeling crappy and they allow it, stay longer. I have to admit I was a little antsy when they said I *had* to stay. I wanted to get in my own bed. I think the hospital bed was actually more comfortable those first two nights since I could adjust it. When I got home I had to sleep in the recliner anyway :)

I am self pay also and required to stay 1 night after surgery. I also have up to a 3 night stay included. I did not even think about what happens if I don't use it...hmmmm...guess it is there "just in case".

My surgery is September 23rd....:)

Good luck with your surgery!!

I only stayed one night. Had the surgery on a Friday afternoon and left Saturday around 5 p.m. I had several IV bags of antibiotic and had to wait for the last one at 4 p.m. Saturday. My doctor has the hospital do an mini upper GI the day after surgery to make sure everything's in the right place. I felt great on the day I left and I could have left sooner if I didn't have to do the IV.

Good luck!

I had some complications and ended up staying in the hospital 3 nights. I am so glad that I did, because even with my husbands excellent help, we could not have taken care of me at home. I was glad to get home, but would have been glad to stay a 4th night if I could have.

Definately stay the first night! IV morophine will be your friend...you will generally feel crappy that first day/night so take advantage of the nursing help and meds available to you.

I was on the fence about staying but in the end I am really glad I chose to stay!

Good Luck!

I was self pay. My surgery was at 1:00pm and I was out of there before 5:00pm. I only took the liquid vicodin through that first night. I was lucky to have no complications that would keep me in the hospital.

The only complications I did have were a severe headache (for 4 days) and dry mouth for a week brought on by the anesthesia and vicodin.

I am so glad it was true "outpatient" and I do not feel that I should have stayed. I hope all goes as well for you.

Well I am NOT self pay and I am an outpatient person. 5-6 hours with no complications prayfully.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
