Hello everyone. I joined the other day and have been perusing the board ever since. I thought it was about time that I said hello.

I was banded on 9/16/05 and am doing extremely well. I had outpatient surgery and was leaving the surgery center an hour and a half after having surgery. The nurses seemed rather amazed. Anyway, I've had no complications and things are progressing well. Check my signature for my weight loss results.

Have a great day!

Welcome Tricia! Boy, you are doing well with your weight loss, and with settling in here at LBT. It took me forever to figure out how to get around in here, and certainly to make a signature. And you have a ticker! Well done!

Anyhow, welcome to LBT!

Welcome Tricia - and congrats on your recovery and weight loss. I was just banded on 9/30 and hope to do as well as you. Keep it up and keep posting. Take care.

P.S. Oh yeah - It took me forever to get my ticker on until I received some help from my lBT buddy (the best me).

Welcome Tricia and Lalap, glad to have you both onboard! Great place with great people here. Tricia so very glad to hear you have breezed through the surgery and are recovering so quickly, I did as well, isn't it marvelous when it works out this way? Congrats on the super weight loss, it's only the beginning.

Lalap ask any questions you'd like. Don't worry about what it is, someone here is bound to have an answer. Very knowlegable and caring people here, always glad to help someone who is checking things out. Good luck and hope to see you on the boards again.

Cindy

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
