Congrats!!!! Yep, I am home sore but doing pretty good. I slept in the recliner last night and will tonight also. Getting my pills down (crushed) this morning was really bad...very bitter. Let me know when you get your surgery date.

Woo Hoo for YOU! So, did you stay a night in the hospital? Are you sleeping in the recliner because it hurts to lay down? The pills you are taking,,, pain pills? Wow,,, Hope I'm not asking too many questions,,, I'm just so excited to have someone to chat with that has just gone through the surgery as I'm getting ready to schedule mine.

My approval couldn't have come at a better time,,, I was watching the Biggest Looser last night and I kept thinking perhaps I should cancel all this and just crash diet again,,, after my approval came in,,, all that went out, lol:-)

Well, you rest up and feel better. I'll be praying for ya!

Hi! i live in the Katy Area. I'm with Aetna and they require 3 months of wt mgmt vists and 2 nutrition visits. So, I completed mine 9/8 and on 9/14 got the call back that Incurance had approved the surgery - so I got scheduled for 10/16. Can I tell you I cried like a baby? Can't say I don't know why , so when the crying was done- I got really nervous and for a week postponed the pre-op. So I have to do AT LEAST 2 weeks of 2 Protein shaeks, 6-8oz of protein and green vegetables. So the preop sucks:thumbdown:BUT I don't get hungry! The protein really keeps me satisfied- I definitely wish I had someone that I could go through this with- BUT hang in there the D-Day cometh!

No, I didn't stay the night at the hospital. My surgery was about noon and they let me go about 5pm. It is more comfortable in the recliner, it is a little uncomfortable to lie down but I will try tonight to sleep in my bed. The pills are my regular meds, blood pressure, diabetes, vitamins..the pain med he gave me in liquid. I am feeling much better this morning. Where are you going to have your surgery, mine was Mem Herman, Memorial City.

I think I'll be at Memorial Herm. as well. The insurance won't pay for them to do it at the new hospital on 290 at Huffmeister, that's where my doc's office is. Something about them being so new,,, it has to be a more established hospital,,, I'm sure it's some sort of insurance thing,,, don't know, don't care:-) I like Memorial Herm.,,, my last 2 babies were born there,,, great people!

Got my surgery date,,, Oct. 21st. 7:30am:-) I'll have a physical with blood work done next Monday, the 28th. I'll see my surgeon for my pre-op appointment on Oct. 6th and I'll start my liquid diet then. yaaaaaaaaaaaa for me:-) Soooooooooo excited!

I'm glad to hear that you are doing good! I can see where getting in and out of the bed would be uncomfortable. Maybe you can get the doc to give you your other meds in liquid form? Have you had to use the pain meds much?

Yea....it will be here before you know it! So we will be right at a month apart. Here is my direct email so we don't have to go through this thread susan1955_99@yahoo.com I get lost in these threads sometimes. I have been taking my pain meds twice a day, in the morn and at night so that is not too bad.

I go for my follow up visit next Thursday.

I was banded last week on 10/8 and am really surprised how easy it's going. Feeling really good, just a little sore. I'd love to participate in any type of support group we can get going in the Houston area.

Hey Karen,,, it's good to hear how good you are doing. I will be banded on the 21st and am really looking forward to that step of the process. I'm so tired of the liquid diet that I could scream,,, but sticking with it,,, just grumpy, lol:-)

Hi there! Is it Susan? I'm doing really well today. I was banded last Thursday and I'm starting to feel pretty good. I woke up early and walked on the treadmill for 30 minutes today and it felt great. I had gotten up to 322 so I wasn't able to walk without my feel killing me. I'm now down to 285 and I can really tell the difference. How are you doing?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
