Ok so I have had a rough past few months and have started drinking soda like crack. Went to the dr today and he says that my stomach has stretched and possible band slip. I have to do liquids for the next week and he has placed me on a band fill diet, and he said it is possible that I may have to get the band removed. Has this happened to anyone? Please let me know, I'm praying that he was just trying to scare me and everything will be ok. PLEASE ANYONE....

I've heard of it; not from diet soda (although I was told that was one of the the big reasons we weren't supposed to have carbonation; pouch problems) but for other reasons. Stay away from that stuff and I hope you'll save your band! Good luck.

Just a clarification. Was it just the soda or did you have a rough time with eating too????

Question: You say you were dirnking soft drinks often, but how is that? Didn't it hurt going down? Did you burp often? I'll admit to having a diet soft drink every now and then; i let it go a little flat and then Water it down with ice. But even then, it doesn't seem worth it after all the chest discomfort and burping.

It sounds to me like your doctor has been through this and has a plan to "fix" it through diet restrictions. Good luck and please keep us updated!

I am not going to have anymore though... everyone says how it was uncomy drinking soda but I had no issues, BUT I AM GOING TO STAY AWAY FROM IT! It's not worth the trouble it could bring on!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
