Anyone get denyed the band due to a fatty liver?

Recommended Posts

Just wondering?

So many doctors have so many different pre op diets to reduce the size of the liver. Low carb/ Low cal/ All liquid/ Some liquid some solid....1 day all liquid....3 weeks all liquid....no pre op diet at all....my guess is that they just must not know works best, if they did it wouldn't be so all over the board.

My question is were any of you closed up at surgery due to a fatty liver and if so can you tell me what your pre op diet was?

Thanks so much!

Restless Monkey did not get her surgery the first time because of a fatty liver perhaps she will see this and answer your question.

Hi:

I didn't have an issue with a fatty liver. I just wanted to say wow, that's a long liquid diet you have listed - from Sept. 7 to Sept. 30th. Holy cow. Best wishes to you with this. I found the liquid diet presurgical was hard (only 10 days), but if you keep in mind that you're making your surgery safer it helps. Thank goodness for sugar free popsicles.

I love my band and my new flat tummy!

Sue

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
