Name Your Band

Recommended Posts

Hi everybody - I would like to share something that I do becaues I firmly believe in the power of positive thinking. Every few days or so I spend a few minutes rubbing my belly and affirming that everything is going to go as well as can be. No erosion, no slipping, and satsifactory weight loss along with my skin will not sag.

Yesterday I was doing this and kept calling my band - Band - I know you will work - we can do this together etc etc. I realize it all sounds a bit silly, but here we are back to the power of positive thinking and I need all the motivation I can get. It also helps me to feel connected to it. Well all of a sudden it came to me - I've been doing this for several months but instead of just calling it band - I decided to name it so I could actually have a personal relationship with it since we are now partners for life.

Sooooo I have named my band BAMBI - LOL - that's the name that came to me and popped in my head yesterday - I felt it was saying we're in it for the long haul and just calling it Band wasn't doing it.

I want to encourage everyone to take your personal band a bit farther by nameing it - now lets see what kind of silly names we can come up with here!

From now on I'll be referring my band as Bambi :) Silly I know but lets go with it!!! Who's with me?

I think Penni did a similar thread a few months ago. But I couldn't find it when i searched for it.

My band is named "Elby" pronounced elbee El=L By=B LB = Lapband! It is also the name of my plant that my husband bought during my recovery to cheer me up!

Mine is Trinity.

My LapBand surgeon goes by a 3 stage or triangular process to ensure that your band will help you lose weight. 1. The Band, 2. Exercise, 3. Eating Healthy.

So here's introducing my Trinity.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
