cwtbt---please feel free to join in at any time. Please understand, there IS drama in my life at this time, and it is directly related to this thread. Someone in my life, and I do know who it is, comes here, and reads, but refuses to join in. I have nothing to hide. I have been open about my band from before I got it!

Over time, people here have become VERY good friends of mine, and we chat about everything under the sun. In my case, that includes my family. They do no always please me.....that does not mean I am right and they are wrong, but I am the one telling the story!! Being among friends I felt able to say what I was feeling, and that has offended my stalker. So I set a trap to assure myself that it was in fact happening. And they bit.....hook, line and sinker----took the bait.

Did I think it could be you? Yes I did. I had no idea what name they were under or if it was simply a "visitor" it doesn't matter.

You are more than welcome to join us, these are amazing women, and occasionally Trey/Plain joins us...but even he is alright!!

I thank you for speaking up, and easing the questions of whether or not it was you or not!

Welcome.

Tracy--GREAT talking to you. I miss you!

Hope Suzie is having fun!

Michelle--you have some Christmas started then---I have 3 things I bought at Christmas close out sales!!! You are still ahead of me!

Cindy--guess last day testing is probabaly pretty standard then. And yes Tracy you would go just to say you did---goofball!

Well I told Tracy on the phone, but we have had bad news. The 2nd scan shows the lung issues with my MIL to not be a blood clot, they believe it IS cancer now. So the family has been on a roller coaster over it. Sad, then happy, now back down again. It is pretty scary, she just gives up instantly, sits in her chair and prepares to die. And FIL cannot remain here living alone---he is in no way capable of that. Makes me crazy thinking about it.

Well I am doing laundry so I can have clean clothes to wear to work the rest of the week--nudity in the polls is frowned upon---especially my nudity!! LOL

Will check in later, thought I better shut up the dang crickets!

Hi Ladies!!

cwtbt, so glad you decided to jump in and start posting! Welcome!! Whether you think you are contributing or not, something you may say may help someone, you just never know! So speak up woman! LOL!!!

Tracy, that sounds like a book I should read too. Let me know what you think once you start it. Maybe I'll ask my local book shop if they can get it for me.

I am so mad at myself!! Didn't have time to eat before we left the house this AM so after I dropped DD at preschool, I had some time and decided to go to my fav place and grab a Breakfast burrito to take to the shop. I started eating and sure enough a couple of bites in, got stuck!!! So much for breakfast! I HATE when I do that and I know better and yet I still do it!! Thank GOD no customer came in while I was hacking in the bathroom!

So, here I am working on an Atkins shake and it's having a hard time going down! On liquids for at least the rest of the day. I'd like to damn the burrito but it was my own dumb fault!

So, that's been my day so far! Hugs Ladies!

Hi all....Kat is going to drag us all out!

My name is Angela and I am well... one of your many followers. I followed a few of you as the "violets" and then moved over when you did. I have communicated with a some of you before: Kat...for advice, Suzie (you "caught" me before and invited me to join) and Tracy (not sure if you remember me, but I live in La Porte...right around the corner from you!).

I want to apologize for not speaking up and making myself known. I am not much of a talker, but I have enjoyed following all of you in your Quest with this band. You are a great group of women and quite an inspiration! In the future I will try to remember to log on as myself so that you know I am here...and if it's ok, I will try and post as well.

I don't know how I missed that news but Kat, I am so sorry about your MIL! Unfortunately with her attitude, she isn't going to help herself! I am so sorry!

Angela, welcome! I'm pretty shy IRL until I get to know people but I don't find that I'm like that here. Join right in! Good to have you!

Hi Shalee!!!! It's been ages! Glad you popped in!

Thanks for the welcome guys!

Kat-I am sorry to hear about your MIL...we went through the same thing with my grandpa and I think honestly the decisions they make concerning their health and treatment affect us more than it does them..at least with my grandpa it did. As far as the family drama and stalker.......I would give her something to really talk about

Tracy-I really am not shy or silent...if you met me IRL you would seriously not be able to shut me up.

heartfire-That sounds like me with the burrito but I would have just PB'd and went back to eating it thinking if I ate just a little slower it might go down.........now you know why I have gained most of my weight back.

We have new friends!!!

Hello, and welcome everyone!!

Well, Alex's graduation was last night and I was fine until she was sitting down there and pulled her cellphone out and texted me to tell me "I love you". That made me cry. Dangit.

She had a good time and is glad that school is over. She slept most of today and she is going to school with me tomorrow to work on our school PowerPoint show for us.

Kat, I hope you MIL's attitude improves. It will be the determining factor in her getting better.

Ok, my peeps, when I get some graduation pics, I will post.

I am tired. Goodnight.

Tracy, that sounds like a book I should read too. Let me know what you think once you start it. Maybe I'll ask my local book shop if they can get it for me. I am going to start the book this morning after I bring dd to school. I will definitely let you know if it is worthwhile.

I am so mad at myself!! Didn't have time to eat before we left the house this AM so after I dropped DD at preschool, I had some time and decided to go to my fav place and grab a breakfast burrito to take to the shop. Well, at least you did not try to finish eating it (which is what I have been doing....i learn the hard way i guess)

So, here I am working on an Atkins shake and it's having a hard time going down! On liquids for at least the rest of the day. I'd like to damn the burrito but it was my own dumb fault!

I have never been able to have anything solid for breakfast....slimfast or oatmeal, maybe Cereal. My band is TIGHT in the mornings!

Amazing how i just realize this right? lol Anyway, after I read my new book, I need to find some things to keep my mind & body occupied.

Good morning,

Thank you for the welcome as well! Tracy...I am 34, married (Mike) and I have a 14 year old son (Zachary). I am also a "bonus mother" to two grown step-children. I spent a couple of years right out of high school in the Navy and now I work in the Maritime Industry in Houston. I live very near San Jac. College and I used to walk there regularly (free!) but I have gotten out of the habit.

My schedule is pretty crazy here but I would like to get back to walking...maybe you could join me?

I tried staying up with the Victorious Valentine's but I couldn't find the words to say...I preferred to read (which led me to you guys) than to try and write my thoughts.

So...here goes. I got my band back in Feb. 2008. I lost 60+ lbs. in the first six months and nothing since. Sadly, I got really comfortable with where I was. I have always been one to drink when I eat which almost defeats the band, right? I do it to this day. I also know all the "tricks" now. chips and ice cream...cookies....all the things that go down easy. I am also a self-professed Blizzard junkie. I would like a medium m&m with dip cone chocolate, please?

Loosing weight the first time was easy. I was scared to push my band, scared of the damage I could do if I did. A couple sips of slim fast and I was full. Now I am bolder. I still drink while I eat. Much like the statements above, if I PB on something I just wait a few minutes and try again. Absolutely not what we were taught. My band is not failing me, I am failing it! I went from 276 down to 210 at my lowest and now I hover around 228, 230 (I haven't changed my ticker in ages).

My husband was banded a week after me. He was having a lot of issues with heart burn and had his fill completely removed (for several months now) and has gained most of his weight back. He was not 100% for this band from the get-go but he was sold on the fact that it was reversible and not a permanent cut and removal like the bypass. We have since realized that our minds are not in the game..and until they are, we will not be successful.

My fourteen year old is right at six foot tall. He has also become chunky and I worry constantly about what we are showing him and if he is going to need intervention as well. I pray not. He plays football so I am hoping that helps some.

Wow. I am a closet blabber-mouth. That's a lot for someone who "doesn't talk"...lol. Thank you for inviting me again.

Angela

I'm Back.

Sorry about that. They called about an hour ago and said my lap-top was ready. When I got there I asked her if they new what file the worm had attached itself too. She said it was in over 100 files. She said it really inbedded itself. Pretty tough cookie to crack but they got it done. So she gave me a website of some Malware to download and said that that should take care of it ever happening again.

I went thru withdrawls while my computer was gone. I sure did get a lot of housework done though.

So I need to welcome 2 new people. So glad that you guys finally joined us. I'm almost positive you will be happy here and satisfied. Anyone else want to join????

I was banded in October of 06. To date I have lost 197 pounds. Occasionaly I have gained back a few pounds but for the most part it has been a losing trip for me. I still have along ways to go and will eventually make it. But if I never lost another pound I would be happy with were I am at. It is a daily struggle with me and wanting to eat what I shouldn't. It is weird how tha bad food goes down but easily but the foods I should be eating will get stuck. Life is strange.

Kat, so sad to hear about your MIL. I will be keeping her in my prayers. I will also say a prayer for the rest of the family for all that you guys will be going thru.

Tracy, I have never heard of the book but do let us know if you find any good insight. We can always use a boost.

Michelle, I'm a winter person also. Actually Fall is my favorite but I love a good snow. Right now we are getting a lot of rain which is making me mad. We are trying to get the pool opened and it's hard to do with all the rain. I can't wait to see the Grad pics. We've already gotten 4 grad notices. I need to get to the store for some cards.

So last week I went and had the MRI done. Well, yesterday they called from my regular Doc's office and said that I needed to go see a Neurosurgeon as soon as I can. So I called the Doc's office that ordered the test and girl that answered the phone said that I would have to call another docs office, that they couldn't help me. I told her I needed to see the orthopedic doc so he could tell me exactly what was in the MRI. She put me on hold and the next thing I know the Doc's right hand nurse was on the phone telling me that I was not to get scared or nervous but the MRI showed that I had a cyst pressing on my spine at the L4-L5 area of my lower spine. That is what is causing all the pain. She said that I needed to get into see the Doc and that she would make the appointment for Thursday because the spine specialist is in the office on that day also. She said she was going to tag team me with both Docs. So I go on the 27th. to see them. That was the earliest she could get me in, she said in the mean time that I am not to worry about anything and to keep myself calm. If I felt like I needed to see the Doc before then that I should call her and she would try real hard to get me in. I'm thinking about calling and getting a prescript of Vicodin or a bottle of tequila. lol.

So last night was not a good sleeping night for me. I tossed alot and slept about 40 minutes at a time till the alarm went off. My first question that ran thru my head was- can this cyst burst and do some damage before I get in? And where the heck are these cyst coming from? That makes 2 in my right lung and now one on my spine. Not sure I want to go have a mammogram done.

Once again, Welcome to Angela and CWTBT.

Hi Shalee, I'm so glad you checked in with us. We miss seeing you here.

I'll check in soon.

Tracy-You can call me whatever you can remember. My name is Bethany...so you can call me that or CW or whatever....I have been called just about everything and will answer to most;)

Thanks for the welcome Suzanne. You have totally rocked this band thing...I wish I could say the same. I was totally into it when I first got it and it seemed to be pretty effortless but then when I started with the fills and got one that was too tight and the reflux started it just seems that I was then on a downward spiral. I now wish I could convert to the sleeve and maybe someday I will. I was self pay so to now turn around and spend thousands of dollars on another surgery seems ridiculous.....especially since I have not been a model bandster. I will also keep you in my thoughts regarding your MRI...sometimes I wish the docs would not mention tests results until you were face to face with them because if your anything like me you will most certainly stress over this until you get answers. Also to me the internet is now a dangerous tool as I now research everything and diagnose everyone in my family.

Okay, I have gone on long enough...my pug is resting is chin on my laptop trying to tell me to get moving so I will talk to you all later.

Hi Ladies!

Suzanne, you know you have my prayers and best wishes thru all of this. You can NOT stress out on "what ifs," it will make you crazy!!! Hugs!

Not much going on. Was at the shop this AM. Enrolled DD in a Day Care on those days that she can't be with me or I need a break and I took her over there for the first time this AM. She loved it and is absolutely exhausted! LOL! She asked me if next time she could stay and lay down with the other kids! She NEVER takes a nap anymore so that was a pretty big statement!

Hope everyone is having a good day!

Michelle, I do counted cross stitch on linen and I love it. Right now I have a wedding picture that I am doing for the wedding we are going to in Sept. I'm just mad at myself that I didn't get started when I bought it several months ago. So now I'm on crunch time. It will probably have at least 100 hours in it by the time I'm done and I will still need to get it framed. My Aunt made one for my hubby and I almost 28 years ago and it's been hanging in my living room ever since. But I really wish I could either crochet or knit. That's what I would really like to do. I've attempted several times. I guess if I would really put some time into it I might get the hang of it.

We are getting ready to start the grill and cook some burgers. I also have some corn on the cob I will fix to go along with it. It turned out to be a lovely day here but they are calling for rain the next few days. I'm never going to get my pool opened.:w00t:

Thanks for all the prayers. I had a long talk with God again last night and told him that once again I was putting it in his hands. I was going to let him decide what was going to happen and that I would accept his wish but that I couldn't deal with worrying about it. I have too much going on in my life to have to worry about my health. He gets full control again. He hasn't let me down yet.

I'll be going to bed early tonight to see if I can get caught up on my sleep. Tomorrow is a busy day for me. I have to work in the morning and work at church in the afternoon. In between them I have a little running around to do.

Awww....Suzie. Much thoughts and prayers coming your way. There is a saying something to the effect of "If the Lord brings you to it, he will pull you through it". I believe it! Try and rest your mind and body this weekend.

Everyone have a good weekend!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
