Fly by check in~~

Family made it in safe. MIL is resigned herself to die. I told her the key was to be "Living with cancer, not Dying from cancer" she told me they were just words it was all the same. She tries to be upbeat, but refers to dying over and over. She wants to talk about it. Wants to talk to us about FIL. But no one will let her talk. My SIL locally her grandkids don't know. They are leaving on Spring Break vacation and they don't want to spoil it for them. Well with all the family in, they of course were there, so where my MIL is scared and needing to VOICE things, she is not being allowed. I mentioned it to my other SIL so she is the big mouth, things might change, we'll see.

She is staying through the appt. on Monday. BIL and his wife are going back tomorrow. They have to babysit their granddaughter on Saturdays. Sorry but that just rubs me the wrong way. She is 17 months old. Mom and Dad are neither one working, but that is the day off they usually have so they spend it with her. But these ARE extenuating circumstances, but nope they will not change plans so they can spend a little more time with her now. He comes through on a regular basis with work, but his wife does not care for it here. And her Mom died suddenly without warning, last year, so she resents the fact he wants to be able to spend some time, since she didn't get that. OMG how petty people can be!!!!

Anyway, gotta finish my pork--time to pull it and add sauce. dinner was mine to do for tonight, so I did simple. SIL made chicken and noodles last night.

Will check in tonight.

Was thinking of you yesterday Suzanne, hope all went well at your cousins funeral. HUGS

Tracy---no advice on the job----you saw how I did!!! LOL

Suzy---let us know how Gia is doing with you!

Cindy--let us know how the boy is settling into class, or not, we are worried abotu you!!!

Michelle---how's Reggie doing??

Seriously gotta go!!!

Good morning everyone-

Wow, so many things going on in all of our lives that I do not even know where to begin!

Kat-still praying!

suzanne-thinking of you!

jenn-where are you and are you having fun? :biggrin:

suzyt-how are you and Gia doing?

michelle-how is your new addition doing? I'll bet your dd is lovin' having a new dog!

Cindy-still waiting for an update :unsure:

Today is going to be another quiet day. DH started nights and both girls are home. Dealing with a teenager that seems to have an attitude problem since she came back from church camp....ugh. I will get to the bottom of it.

Have a great day everyone!

I'm here!!

I just haven't been feeling 100% the past few days.....as soon as I drop Gia off at school, I've been napping.

We seem to be settling in. She likes playing with the kids in the neighborhood in the afternoons. Hates doing math problems and reading with me in the evening after dinner. She had a physical appointment today. I really like her doctor. Still need to get her medical records from her dad though. She has a dentist appointment Monday morning and then the following week she starts her therapy appointments.

Most of the things that she does that make me crazy are normal 12 year old things.....not listening, not brushing her teeth, not making her bed, etc. So I really cannot complain too much.

We are going to my parent's house for Easter (her spring break starts Good Friday) for a few days. I think it will help for her to see how we all interact. My brother, his wife and 3 daughters are coming to visit my parents too. The are really coming to meet Gia, but she would hate to know that......

I went to the court session on Tuesday and while they try to find her mom (who hasn't been contacted by her own brother in two years) the case has been postponed until June 1st. Gia doesn't want to see her dad and her dad doesn't want to see her, so there we are.

Suzanne -- sorry to hear about your cousin :unsure: Hugs!!

Hey. 2 more days of a very long and hectic week.

Everything went wonderful at the funeral. I was so overwhelmed with the amount of people that showed up. I don't think I have ever seen that many people. It was a beautiful service and the people that spoke did a wonderful job. The singing was beautiful also, they started off with Danny Boy and finished up the service with Galway Bay. Tears were flowing the whole time. After everyone started to leave, we left and went to her brothers house for a gathering. He built a big bonfire out back and we hung around there. He had a friend come over and cook corned beef and cabbage and a whole lot of other foods. We got home late and went straight to bed.

Suzy, so glad to hear that things are going good for you guys. You hear so many horror stories. But if not making her bed and brushing her teeth is the worst, than you have it made. I will still keep all of you in my prayers.

Kat, what a mess those people make. Hang in there.

Tracy, I would love to find a PT job. Not like the one I have. I would love to get on at the hospital or something with more of a challenge and meaning to it. And more than minimum wage would be nice.

I have a full shift tomorrow and than have to work saturday also. Saturday may not be to bad, they are calling for snow. It might be a real slow day for me.

Have a great evening.

Good Morning Girls.

I'm up, barely. I woke up around 2am. Went to the bathroom, got back in bed and laid there for I don't know how long before I fell back to sleep. Next thing I know the alarm is going off. Ugggghh.

We had a beautiful day here yesterday and they are calling for another one today. Then tomorrow a winter storm warning has been posted. Holy Cow. When is spring going to be here.

I'll check in later today. I'm working another double shift.

Make it a good one.

Good Morning all

Kat - MIL and entire family is in my prayers -

Tracy - thanks sister!

I'm just quick checking in, I have family court wheich is going to be adjourned again for his disclosures, he is trying to completely screw me. I really don't like him at all and wish I didn't need his money, I'd walk away completely.

It has been 60 and sunny all week so I have been busting my butt, walking my 6 miles a day and then doing my spring yard work, my body is killing me but it is almost done, have 1 corner of the yard left - so when I go back to work monday, i can enjoy my weekends and not have to do this hard work.

Miss ya'll - off to get ds on the bus and shower for court. Give me strength - I'm going to need it after what he did to me, I can't even be in the same room with him at this point in my life

Good morning friends :frown:

I am hurting so bad this morning...my back and hips are killing me. I guess I need to go ahead and take my pain pills. That is why I have them so I may as well use them.

Yesterday I did really well with my eating. I could have done better probably but it is a great accomplishment for me to not have ice cream...and I didn't. I feel good about that. Pray for me to make it through another day of eating healthy.

Have a fantastic day ladies!

Suzanne, so sorry about your cousin. I am glad that the funeral and time after was wonderful. They can be blessings or nightmares! Glad this was in the Blessing category! Sorry about the snow!

Kat, your family is in my prayers. Hang in there!

Suzy, are you feeling better?

Jenn, so excited for you! Congrats!!!

Tracy, a part time job wouldn't be bad if it can be flexible!

~~~~~
So. Checking in! Migraine tonight but it was to be expected. Yesterday was long and busy and I was actually expecting it last night. Didn't pop up til today!
I was still productive today tho! Cleaned out most of my closet. All but 1 little section of long hanging stuff. I have to try stuff on and by then I was DONE and hungry! LOL! Left it for another day.
I have 2 large trash bags of shoes and t-shirts to go to the dump. All stuff I should have thrown away a long time ago!!! And no, none of it I would give to charity. Not good enough!
Reggie is doing well. Finding his place in the family. He is getting a little pissy with me once in awhile. He's trying to dominate me and I won't let him. We're working it out! :frown: He's really a great dog, just learnin'!!
Okay, so once again I hit the low 190s. Way ticked off about it! Got an idea the other day and I'm hoping it works. I've only used it for 3 days and it seems to be helping some.
I bought a small dry erase board at the store the other day. On it I write every single thing I put in my mouth. Whether it's food or drink. EVERYTHING! It's on the fridge door so I can't cheat! At night, before I go to bed, I look at it again. Every single thing on it, then I wipe it clean so when I get up in the AM, I'm starting with a "clean slate" for the new day.
So. Drama in my extended life and y'all know I LOVE drama! NOT!
My new friend that owns the yarn shop I go to? Well, the gal that's been working the shop on Tuesdays & Thursdays wasn't really an employee. They were exchanging services. My friend charged NOTHING for this gal to take care of the shop 2 days a week and she sold her own knitting stuff and held classes. For FOUR YEARS!!!!!
There have been rumors in town for a couple of weeks that a new yarn shop was going to open! Huh?! We don't have ROOM for another one and the one we have is barely making it! The 2 days that my friend was away from the shop? Was for a part time job to help pay her bills. The shop is supporting itself but it can't support her right now!!!!
So this gal WALKS OUT ON HER YESTERDAY with only a NOTE that she was leaving!!!!! Turns out this gal is the one who's opening up the new shop!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My friend is barely staying open at this point. The economy has hit her hard. I offered her my FREE services Ts & THs until she can figure out what she's going to be doing. She can't keep closing the shop or she is for sure going to end up closing!
I don't care about getting paid, I'd just like to get out of the house. I can also learn from her and about yarn and stuff. And maybe, if I'm lucky, she'll offer me a bit of yarn and some classes or something. Don't care if I get anything tho. I just found her, I don't want to lose her now!!!!!
I have a class with her on Sunday. I told her I can stay after everyone leaves if she wants to talk about it. We'll see.
If you could put Mary in your prayers, I'd appreciate it! She's on her own and it's rough. Oh! AND she's been sicker than a dog for more than a week now! Can we say, "stress??!!!"
Thanks y'all!
Gotta go! Have a beautiful weekend!!!!
Well it is almost 1 AM, and I am just getting home. I wake up, and go to the inlaws. BIL and his wife went home today, SIL is still here, and will be until following the oncologist appt.
Today my FIL tells us he is again passing blood in his urine, so we took him to Urgent Care, and were told it could be anything from a rupture to cancer. There is most definitely blood in the urine, but no infection. So he sees a urologist a week from Monday. From there we went to get his hearing aids adjusted, then went back to the house. Rick wanted to come home from work and just veg out, he is tired, but his Mom had a fit. She wants everyone there, otherwise she has too much time to sit and think.....so he stayed awhile, then I sent him home, and we sat around and played cards and dominos for hours....thus I am just getting home.
I spend most of my time, cooking and cleaning. At dinner tonight there were about 20 of us. We went really simple and had a frito pie bar set up. I made the pulled pork the night before and there were closer to 30 of us. I had a huge crock pot full, and there was not a bite left!
I have spaghetti sauce thawing to make for tomorrow. Then we plan on going out on Sunday, and after that it is going to be alternated with my SIL here to help feed the folks....I am gonna go broke! Not to mention all of them, hit the table for games, and leave me with the mess......one is notorious for it!
Anyway.....all is well.
Jenn glad court is over, now the real healing can begin, with nothing hanging over your head. Sounds silly, but it does make a difference.
Rick has been on a happy countdown, we finish the Child Support in June, so he has been telling everyone only 3 more months, and was sooooo happy. Now he says since that Dr. told his Mom she might have only 3 months, he feels horrible wishing it to hurry. Things change so suddenly.
Tracy, Suzie, Michelle, Suzy, Cindy......I am thinking of you ALL, and hoping we get some home time this weekend, and I will catch up....till then, everyone hang in there, and take good care of yourselves and those you love......I'll talk to you all soon!!!
Home from work and getting caught up on stuff.
It's been snowing all day so I'm not sure if I will make it to church. Anyway, at work this morning I got there at 8am and opened. I sat for over 1 1/2 hours before anyone showed up. Finally a small stream of people came in. I had 9 all total. So the last one was leaving at 11:35 and we close at noon. She asked if I had to stay and I told her no, that I was headed out the door in a few I needed to get things closed up. I just finished shutting down the computer when I see a faithful patron pull in the parking lot. I had already put the closed sign up. Crap. So I finished doing what I started and thought I would still stay and let her exercise. She must have seen the closed sign because by the time I could get to the door, she was pulling out. I felt bad but we do close at 12 and it is a 30 minute work-out. At best she would have gotten a 20 minute one. I'll talk to her monday about it.
So I came home and pulled some chicken out and boiled it. I made a pot of chicken noodle Soup. I cleaned out the leftovers from the fridge and got it cleaned up. I'm not eating a bowl of chicken taco salad. Yummy.
Michelle, what a cool idea about the eraser board. One way to keep you on track. And I like the fact that it is so accesible. Sure glad to hear thet Reggie is settling in. Good doggie.
Kat, that is excellent news about the child support, just don't let what is happening in his family put a damper on any happy occasion that you guys have going. I realize that his mother doesn't have long to live and that is very tragic. I really hate to sound like a cold hearted biotch right now, but Life goes on. You and Rick still have to live. Be there when she needs you but also live your own lives. My Dad made sure that we had laughter when he was dying. He knew how hard it was going to be for us but he also knew that we still lived and had to go on with a heavy heart. So he tried with all his might to bring a smalie to our faces. Keep Rick at the first thing you do every day and the last thing you do. His family will survive.
Tracy, I am so looking forward to our visit this summer. Maybe you'll be lucky enough to find a little part time job to do while the girls are in school.
Jenn, I'm so excited about you starting your new job and very jealous about all your walking. I'm so waiting for spring to be here.
Wait, it is spring. What the hell is it doing snowing outside than. Crazy world.
Well it's been a long day---once again spent doing a lot of cooking~ my DH is getting really tired of it! Anyway we also did a lot of playing cards, and Rick and I took Connor and Kinsey to town, and let them have lunch and play in Burger King. Then Rick went and bought Kinsey a new bike so she could ride out there with Connor. She simply is NOT the daredevil he is! Not that it is a bad thing, he is wild!!!
He worked with her on her riding, he is much more patient with her whining "I can't" than I am!!! LOL
He and our son got the old John Deere up and running---it is old, it is one of the old "Popping Johnnies" It has the smoke stack that goes pop pop pop while it runs, it is soooooo cool, and it is MINE!!!
Keep Rick at the first thing you do every day and the last thing you do. [/size]
Well as I say it has been a long day.....so I am gonna take Suzies advice' date=' and make my hubby the last thing I do tonight!!! LOL Could not resist Suzie!! I'll check in in the morning!!! [/b']
      Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
      1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?
        All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
      I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
