OMG...I am having sinful sinful thoughts...I have a recipe that I have been thinking of making all day long and I have really had to use some self restraint. It is cake that you put espresso in and the icing is cream cheese :( My goodness....help me...tell me that I do not need it!!! lol

I also love to cook. If any of you have the 'Eating Well After WLS' cookbook, the chicken with Fresh Figs recipe is incredible. This weekend I'm going to try the Pork & Fresh Plum Sauce.

Laura, I'd love to have your no-cook Blueberry Tiramisu recipe.

:seeya: me too!! :(

Here goes:

Blueberry Tiramisu (my invention)

Part one is to make the cheese mixture

Put in the blender:

one 8 oz reduced fat cream cheese

one small low fat ricotta cheese (15 oz size)

the juice of one lime (could add 2)

zest of the lime

Some Stevia (my favorite or Splenda)

blend it should be watery (hardens up when put in the refrig after the layering of the Tiramisu

set aside

Part two Blueberry sauce

Canned blueberries (pie filing) with Splenda

:sneaky: OR :sneaky:

Put frozen blueberries in a small pot and boil (Costco because they are nice and small.. my preference) and you add some Tapica to make somewhat thicker

When competed this step take off the stove and place in a glass bowl to cool... then add some fresh zest of another lime

Part three Layered Cracker or Wafer

Normally you would use the Lady Fingers:cursing:

:thumbup::thumbup:WE are Banders :thumbup::thumbup:

So we use those funny thick rice or mixed grain crackers (mine had a radius of at least 10) and I purchase them at my local farmer....NOTE they are hard with at least an eight of an inch inheight and if soaked they would disintegrate...mine are called CocoPoP and I just noticed they have a website:ohmy:

Part Four Assemble

Squeeze some lime juice on the wafer of choice then you can assemble in a large pan or as I did in individual dessert cups so it was more Portion Control and just break off the wafer to size

First layer wafer

Second layer spread the liquidy cheese mixture

Third layer spread the cooled blueberry sauce

repeat layers one thru three

Place in the refrig to harden (settle)

If you can wait... dig in

I use my Tiramisu as lunch or dinner

:w00t::w00t: I hope that you like it :tongue2::scared2:

Off to the forrest here girls.....another weekend of cutting wood. I just want to be done!

I keep telling myself it is good exercise....but it is also exhausting, and my leg is just now easing up from the hit it took last week!!!

We have been below freezing 2 times so far. Was in the lower 30's this morning. Now it will go up to the 80's through the afternoon! EVERYONE ends up with sinus infections and crap during this change due to the drastic changes, and all the germs floating around with school starting.

I am trying to learn names, but I am pathetic!! Anyway--so sorry to hear about the H1N1 diagnosis! We have a local school closed with 60% out with illness. It is on the reservation, and they are supposed to be among the first to receive the vaccination.

I hold my breath at work, and wipe everything on a regular basis!!! I live with the Oust, and Clorox wipes at hand!!!

Well kids are showing up.....means it is time to go.

Oh yeah, my DS was in an accident yesterday, stressed the you know what out of me (no weight lost tho!!!). He is fine, just upset. He got ticketed, and claims he was not at fault so is fighting it.

See y'all soon.

Been taking a mini break, trying to process all the crap from the PJTP thread, and not get involved. Had nothing to do with any of y'all.

I will do my best on the challenge, but not holding lots of hope!!! LOL This re losing the weight seriously sucks!!

Good morning everyone!

I whacked my elbow on the kitchen table a few days ago and now I am in excruciating pain. It started yesterday and is continuing through today. I know I probably need to take an anti inflammatory but we are not supposed to . I wonder if it is OK for me to take them since I am completely unfilled...prob so...what do you all think?

Hi Terry! Welcome :(

Cindy you crack me up...Hi I am Tracy and I am a food-o-holic :sneaky:

Jolly-thank you so much for the recipe! :tongue2:

Cari-did you stay away from the sugar Cookies? lol

Shalee-sorry to hear what you are going through with your band! :sneaky:

Jen-what you up to this weekend sista? DH is off so there is no telling what we will do. We have all the kids here this weekend.

Suzanne-sorry you have been so busy! I hope that your boss gets someone hired at work soon to take some of the stress off of you!

Have a great day everyone!!

Kat: sorry to hear about DS. I remember getting in a wreck when I was 17 and the other driver was 40. I was ticketed and faulted with the accident. The ticket was unjustified and thrown out. My parents wouldn't fight paying for the accident, although we should have. The accident wasn't costly, but to me it was the principle of it. It wasn't my fault. They just paid it to get it over with.

Sometimes reading the posts here make me wonder if some people just weren't mentally ready for WLS and needed more time with the bariatric team psychiatrist. Complaining about the limited drink/food choices early on... blah..blah...blah. The living to eat mentality really needs to go and be replaced with eating to live. JS

We have to remember that everyone moves at their own pace. For some it may be harder to adjust, people may have other factors at play that feed into the unhealthy relationship with food e.g. eating disorders, trauma. I'd hope those who you are referring to address this outside of this forum, with a professional.

This is a place to feel safe to vent, seek advice, hopefully without judgement.

Compassion goes a long way :)

Seems it would be more compassionate not to perform a WLS on someone until they are mentally ready for it. Unless of course they are on death's door...

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.
