I need help w/ liquid diet!

Recommended Posts

Well, I can tell you what I'm allowed to do on my 14 day pre op diet.

shake for Breakfast and lunch.

A small piece of fruit with lunch. (smaller than a baseball, slightly larger than a golf ball)

A midafternoon snack of 1 ounce of low or no fat cheese (one string cheese is acceptable), or a 90 calorie yogurt or 1.2 c. no fat cottage cheese.

dinner is 4 ounces of lean Protein, chicken, turkey, lean beef; 1 c. vegetables by volume; 2 slices of whole grain bread. I often use fat free mayo and make a sandwich. My other mainstain is using the skinless chicken tenders you buy in the fresh meat dept. of your grocery. That makes it quick and easy to cook and weigh. I switch up the seasonings I sprinkle on: Greek, Italian, Mrs. Dash....

Then you are allowed 10 baby carrots for an evening snack.

My instructions said that I could rearrange this as needed or desired but could not eat anything that was not on the list. A lot of days I get too busy and don't bother with the Snacks, other days I eat it all.

Hope that helps!

I thought your diet sounded familar. I am one of dr Elliot's patients as well. My surgery is the 23rd. I just finished day 3. the first 2 were tough but day 3 is getting better. As for the origional post you may want to see if you can strain chicken noodle soup(tastes better than just broth)good luck.

broth it will be your saver in the liquid phase. I get the bouillon cubes and dilute it a little more than required. 2 cups of Water and 1 cube.

Specially when you get sick of the sweet tasting stuff.

Other than the broth, Water, crystal light type drinks, SF Jello, SF Hard candies and SF Gum there really is not much.

The broth is what helped me specially days 3 to 5. Sipping it and drinking a ton of them because the warmth just calmed my tummy down.

It will all be worth it in the long run

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
