Hi! I am a new quilter....I hardly even count as one, but I am working on a couple of projects...my mom was an artist at it, and my grandmother is still quilting every day (she's 92!). I was banded a week before you, and have lost 36 total, but I started by ticker at the weight I was on surgery consultation.

You are doing great!!! Thanks for the introduction, Cindy

I love quilting although I haven't been able to do it for a while because I've been renovating my new home, along with recovering from surgery.

My weight was 261.5 on the morning of surgery and now it's 226.5. I hope to get down to around 160. I don't ever expect to be skinny.

Good luck with your weight loss.

Hi Quilter Mom, I wish you would have introduced yourself sooner. I just sent a huge box of quilting scraps to a Katrina donation center with the suggestion for someone crafty to start a Katrina Love Quilt. I sure hope the stuff gets used, cause I would have loved to send it to a fellow bandster.

Congrads on your skinny self! Nice to meet you.

Welcome and congrats on a super job of losing weight so far. Let the momentum help carry you through the holidays and just imagine ringing in the New Year's below 200!!!!! Wouldn't that be wonderful!

I think you will love it here, awesome, supportive and smart people here. Great advice and everyone is friendly.

See you around the boards!

Cindy

Hi, great to see another quilter - your doing fantastic. What kind of quilts do you do? I have to admit I am a machine quilter - love to do log cabins and strip quilts. See ya around.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
