Sharp Pains- HELP!

Recommended Posts

I'm a little concerned and hopefully someone out there may have had a similar situation they can share...

Over the last 2 weeks I have totally upped my game by going to the gym 4 times a week and working it HARD. I also added weight training to my regimen.

Beginning last week, I started noticing a sharp pain at the port. It comes and goes. I dont have to even be doing anything. It twinges and then fades.

Should I be worried or could it be related to the excercise?

Thanks for your input!

I started having pains just above my port and went in to the doctor. I have moved since getting my band, so it was just my regular provider. They did a CT scan and my tube has come detached from the port and is poking me. May be worth asking about.

Oh my! A detached tube?? I've never heard anyone talk about that here. Did they repair it?

Since I posted, I have gone for a fill and my surgeon said if he was able to find the port ok, there was nothing to worry about. He did and said the pains might becoming from ripping scar tissue where my port is stitched to the muscle...

I'm glad you know that your port is okay...but OUCH, that sounds painful. Did he say if that was dangerous or if it could lead to your port flipping?

I just found out and was looking for similar cases here and yours was the closest. I am not sure why it happened but I think I am going to have it removed. This pain is something like I have never felt before and never want again. We will discuss other options when I get in to talk to the surgeon.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
